Job description

Our team in Toronto currently has an opening for a Technical Service Representative

YOUR ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage risk considering technical legal requirements, industry best practices, management system requirements, and the Responsible Distribution Canada’s Responsible Distribution Code of Practice
  • Act as a Technical Advisor with respect to the emergency response call network as well as the emergency response assistance plan (ERAP) under the Canadian Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations
  • Perform site inspections to ensure that operational and safety risk is being managed for deliveries of high-risk product, including flammable liquids, oxidizing liquids, compressed gases, and cyanide, and prepare written inspection reports
  • Conduct product stewardship training for customers with respect to safe handling of high-risk products
  • Assist with responding to customer inquiries related to product stewardship, operational safety, and technical standards
  • Participate in the maintenance of controlled documentation (standard operating procedures, forms, and work instructions) related to Technical Service responsibilities
  • Participate in the maintenance of the legal register for legislation relevant to Technical Service responsibilities (e.g. provincial Fire Codes and Building Codes, storage tank-specific legislative requirements, etc.)

YOUR PROFILE

Education and Experience :

  • Post-secondary education with a degree in chemistry, occupational health and safety, or any related disciplines would be an asset
  • Experience in the chemical industry with exposure to operational safety would be an asset
  • Emergency response training (e.g. with respect to NFPA 472) or experience with emergency response would be an asset
  • Communication skills in both English and French, both written and verbal, and confidence with giving oral presentations are critical to this role
  • Valid drivers license and the ability to travel are important for this role
