Position Overview:
We are helping our client recruit an experienced Manager of Technical Services responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction for the Technical Services Department. This individual will collaborate closely with Sales and other stakeholders, ensuring quality services, setting benchmarks, and aiding in the development and implementation of new products.
Responsibilities:
- Achieve department goals through team management, planning, evaluating activities, and overseeing projects.
- Develop, coordinate, and enforce systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
- Manage and develop a team of Technical Service Engineers providing remote technical assistance to customers.
- Prepare reports supporting customer and company operations as required.
- Manage and respond to external and internal customer requests, considering company constraints.
- Meet financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing budgets, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and implementing corrective actions.
- Maintain quality service by enforcing standards, resolving issues, and recommending improvements.
- Assist customers in applying company products through visits, demonstrations, training, and calls.
- Collaborate with customers to identify needed features and relay this information to marketing.
- Support and resolve customer concerns, providing application notes, conference papers, and demonstrations.
- Prepare product presentations and comparisons for business development.
- Contribute customer service insights for strategic planning and reviews.
- Assist in preparing and presenting proposals for products, services, and systems.
- Serve as a secondary technical customer contact.
- Participate in training and assist with installation, commissioning, and operation of systems.
- Participate in industry technical meetings such as NASPI and IEEE PSRC.
- Provide input for manuals, datasheets, and guides for customers.
- Support marketing, sales, application engineering, and development activities.
- Travel within US and Canada up to 25%.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (minimum).
- At least 10 years’ experience with relays and recorders.
- Experience leading and developing teams.
- Strong presentation skills, both written and oral.
- Knowledge of electric power systems, practices, and philosophies.
- Experience with protective relay applications at utilities or engineering firms.
- Experience with EMTP, load flow, and short circuit studies.
- Teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Proficiency in computer and business software.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to execute tasks efficiently.
- Satisfactory background check and negative drug test results.
Preferred Technical Qualifications:
- Experience with power transmission, distribution, and generation systems.
- Experience with protective relays and fault recorders in transmission and substations.
- Knowledge of communication protocols and system architecture.
- Experience leading project teams.
- Expertise in system protection, integration, and automation.
- Recent experience with company relay products.
