Job summary

Ontario Redimix is seeking a Technical Service Coordinator in Portland for a contract, full-time role. You will coordinate field technicians, sample and test concrete, analyze data, and deliver value-added products while supporting quality investigations.

Requirements include safety knowledge, concrete testing expertise, strong communication, MS Office proficiency, and the ability to work outdoors. Diploma in Civil/Construction Tech or progress toward OACETT is preferred, with a valid G license.

Qualifications

  • Safety oriented and knowledge of OH&S policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Knowledge of concrete and aggregates testing.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Good communication skills both written and oral.
  • Proficient in MS Office; able to document and present data.
  • Excellent problem solving abilities, organizational and time management skills.
  • Able to perform multiple tasks, flexible to changing priorities and schedules.
  • Capable of outdoor work with exposure to heat, cold, dust and noise.
  • Customer-oriented; valid G driver’s license.
  • Diploma in Civil/Construction Tech or pursuing OACETT; CCIL experience.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with field technicians, drivers, lab personnel and supervisors to communicate quality objectives and results.
  • Sample and test concrete and other materials to meet specs.
  • Maintain, analyze and interpret test data and record daily results.
  • Deliver value-added products to meet customer needs.
  • Assist with concrete quality investigations and mix-design discussions.
  • Operate and calibrate equipment; perform preventive maintenance.
  • Identify issues and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • May assist in contract specification reviews and client submissions.

Position Responsibilities (key duties, scope of position, goals, expectations, and skill requirements):
  • Interface with other field technicians, Drivers, Lab Personnel, Plant Operators, Supervisors and Managers to communicate quality objectives and results
  • Sampling and testing of concrete and other raw materials to ensure they meet plant and job site regulatory specifications
  • Maintaining, analyzing and interpreting test data and record daily test results
  • Delivery and administration of value-added products to accommodate customer needs
  • Assist with job site quality investigations and analysis of concrete quality
  • Equipment operation and calibration, including preventive and general maintenance
  • Assist with identifying issues and opportunities allowing continuous improvement
  • May assist in contract specification reviews/mix design submissions to clients

Position Requirements (Experience, Technical Expertise and Core Competencies):
  • Safety oriented and sound knowledge of OH&S policies, procedures and regulations

  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Excellent problem solving abilities, organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, flexible and able to adjust to changing needs, priorities and work times
  • Capability to work in an outdoor environment, with frequent exposure to heat, cold, dust and noise is required
  • Customer-oriented
  • Must have valid G driver's license
Educational/Experience Criteria (preferred):
  • Diploma or Degree in Civil or Construction Technology Program, or
  • Working towards The Ontario Association of Certified Engineering and Applied Science Technologists
  • Concrete Testing Experience with a CCIL certified laboratory
