The Technical Sales Representative is the primary contact and technical expert for customers within their territory. The candidate possesses a deep technical understanding of liquid / solid separation and filtration processes in addition to taking the time to understand the customer’s process. In addition to being a technical resource for our customer base, the Technical Sales Representative must also be able to communicate effectively with the customer to deliver sustainable solutions while also managing their expectations. The Technical Sales Representative will be required to troubleshoot and solve filtration issues, complete quotations and proposals, as well as specify new process filtration equipment.

The candidate will manage a geographic territory composed of Quebec, Eastern Ontario, and Atlantic Canada. Regular travel to customer sites is required, as well as occasional travel outside of Quebec.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the complete product portfolio to new and existing customers with the objective of tailoring solutions for them and, by doing so, annually improving market share at each customer
  • Consistently meet or exceed sales targets, revenue goals and performance metrics (KPIs)
  • Identify and qualify new prospects every month; and follow up with visits to present our brand message, identify opportunities to capture business, and develop relationships with the decision makers in various departments
  • Accurately and promptly communicate customer quotation requests, orders, quality issues, information requests, etc. to appropriate personnel
  • Support the Distributors in his / her region by providing them with product literature, product training, sales tools, pricing guidelines, and traveling with their sales reps to help them win orders from their OEM and End User customers
  • Actively participate in projects that involve his / her customers such as developing new designs and structuring long term agreements
  • Actively participate in new product / new market launches and provide timely feedback to management regarding progress and achievements
  • Establish the technical needs of the customer and suggesting appropriate products
  • Provide the customer with the necessary and appropriate technical information to expedite their decision-making process
  • Explain complex technical information to customers in a way that is easily understandable
  • Work cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Operations, Engineering, and Customer Service teams to ensure seamless execution of customer solutions, timely order fulfillment, and high customer satisfaction
  • Keep customers informed about new technical products
  • Adhere to all company and customer safety protocols during site visits and product installations
  • Participate in internal / external training sessions, supplier / vendor workshops, technical webinars, trade shows, roadshows, to stay current on product knowledge, safety standards, industry best practices, and market trends
  • Seek out information on competitor activity in assigned region
  • Update records of customer communications and contact information
  • Follow up on sales leads and making cold calls on potential customers
  • Maintain traditional markets and other markets of established business

Qualifications

  • Degree in a STEM discipline (Mechanical or Chemical Engineering preferred) and / or experience with industrial separation processes
  • The ability to identify and follow up on leads
  • Technical approach to problem solving with a focus on developing a deeper understanding of the customer’s application and process
  • Driven to make sustainable long-term sales and developing a trusting relationship with customers
  • Meticulous and detail-oriented, especially with orders, quotations, and proposals
  • Creativity and resourcefulness in the face of internal and external constraints
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Fluent in both French and English (spoken and written)
  • Exceptional skills in selling products and closing deals
  • Ability to manage time and customers
  • Collaborative mindset and willingness to work as part of a team
  • Excellent ability to multi-task
  • Working knowledge and / or interest in filtration and separation processes
