Technical Sales Representative, Building and Construction (On-site)

Intertek is searching for a Technical Sales Representative (Construction Services) to join our Building & Construction team in our Coquitlam, BC office. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in Building and Construction!

Intertek is growing, and we are looking for a Technical Sales Representative (Construction Services) to help us make an impact in the Construction industry. The ideal candidate will have B2B sales experience and a background in construction project estimating. The Technical Sales Representative will be responsible for identifying on-site material testing bidding opportunities, responding to RFPs / RFQs, and tracking project developments through to award. The candidate should have a desire to represent Intertek in the field and a sound understanding of the construction project space, including estimating and on-site testing requirements, with strong tracking and time management skills.

REPORTING STRUCTURE

This position reports to the Sales Director, Canada. It is located at Intertek's Coquitlam, BC campus and is an on-site role.

EXAMPLES OF WORK

  • Responding to, reviewing, and tracking project RFPs / RFQs
  • Monitoring construction project platforms to identify bidding opportunities
  • Prospecting and client outreach through in-person sales, lunch and learn initiatives, industrial events, etc.
  • Creating project bid packages
  • Following up on open bids and tracking results
  • Maintaining an opportunity pipeline
  • Preparing activity, proposal, and award reports
  • Contributing to regional sales, orders, and revenue targets
  • Performing other duties as required

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • University Degree preferred; college diploma in a related field acceptable
  • 2+ years' successful construction project experience, preferably in on-site quality testing, coordination, or estimating
  • Experience collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including General Contractors, municipalities, and townships
  • Self-motivated and effective in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent time management, tracking, and communication skills
  • Experience with DODGE Analytics, Construct Connect, Bids & Tender, or similar tools is an asset
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and other common computer systems
  • Experience working with diverse teams (GCs, municipalities, procurement, contracts)
  • Willingness to travel frequently during the day (no overnight travel)

Physical dexterity and mobility to travel via car and perform clerical functions are required.
