Job description
Overview

Technical Sales Consultant (Trainee)

Lokring Eastern Canada is looking for a full time Technical Sales Consultant Trainee based in London Ontario, to help grow our sales in the area of ‘Western Ontario’ from Sarnia to Hamilton.

We are looking for a recent graduate who is looking to start a career in technical sales.

Lokring Eastern Canada is the distributor of Lokring Technology mechanical fittings to the ‘Eastern’ Provinces of Canada from Ontario to Newfoundland.

From our Mississauga office we store and ship our products to our customers, as well as providing technical support and assistance to help customers correctly install our products. The companies we supply to are typically industrial companies such as oil and gas, nuclear, steel, automotive, military shipbuilding and mining.

After opening in 2018 and establishing a strong customer base, Lokring Eastern Canada is looking forward to the planned growth and expansion of our small team in the next few years. We are looking for someone who is most importantly self driven, organised, willing to take initiative and happy to work alone day to day.

Following a full 6 month training period, the role will be based on the road, travelling to and visiting our current and prospective customers.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Technical Sales and Support
  • Product Knowledge: Understanding the technology in depth; Design concepts, material & service compatibility, regulatory compliance etc.
  • Market Research: Identifying new clients who might benefit from company products & services.
  • Customer Qualification: Establishing the specific requirements of potential clients to ensure their needs match our capabilities.
  • Client Education: Changing the ethos of an organisation through educating them in the benefits of our technology.
  • Technical Consultation: Providing expertise to clients both pre & post installation to ensure our technology is utilised in a safe and compliant manner.
Business Development
  • Brand Development: Aiding the development of the company brand awareness through marketing & advertising
  • Encouraging Business Partnerships: Cultivating long-term relationships with clients based on an intrinsic understanding of their needs
  • Business Analysis & Strategic Planning:Determining company strategy based on “in field” experience
  • Targeting: Work alongside colleagues to set and achieve challenging targets which ensure our organisation remains at the pinnacle of Lokring’s global distribution network
Qualifications and Skills
  • We are looking for someone with a relevant Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Marketing, Business or other similar field.
  • No prior professional sales experience is required. A key part of this role is getting full training as part of the job.
  • For someone to thrive in this role they will need to be pro-active, self driven, comfortable speaking in public, have excellent social skills, principled and have a competitive spirit.
  • Full Clean driving license.
Pros and Cons of the Job
  • We are a small team at the moment which has its pros and cons. We don’t have a Starbucks in the lobby of our main office….. but you will be a valued member of the team, not another person at a desk. The work you do will make a difference.
  • As the team grows you will have the opportunity to grow with the company and take on more responsibilities.
  • You will get provided with a company phone, car and laptop.
  • We have remained stable during Covid and the current US/Canada tariff situation and can provide a secure working environment for the long term.
  • 16 days paid annual + the 9 days public holidays. Total 25 days. We believe in working to live, not living to work.
  • In this role you will regularly be in contact with colleagues on a daily basis, but once up and running after the training period, you will primarily be working on your own day to day visiting our client’s sites. You need to be comfortable being on your own day to day.
  • We are part of a wider global Lokring network. With an office in Calgary, UK, USA etc. We also have regular interaction with these offices, particularly Calgary. Travel, particularly across Canada will be part of the regular role.

Salary is $50,000 with commission on top.
