The Technical Product Owner (TPO) represents the Business Product Owner at the team level, ensuring that the team delivers functionality that meets business and client needs. He/she must have past experience working with technology teams, and business skills and experience are a plus.

This role will be an Onsite and Hybrid role based out of our Mississauga, ON location. 1-2 months fully onsite then it will progress to some work from home days.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

  • Works with Business Product Owner to understand business objectives and product requirements, collaborates with BPO to prioritize the backlog; collaborates with business stakeholders to clarify user story requirements as needed.

  • Writes functional and technical user stories that clearly communicate customer/stakeholder needs to the Agile team, accepts stories once complete.

  • Understands and supports inter-team dependencies, and escalates issues when necessary.

  • With Agile team, sets and communicates release date and scope.

  • Attends team events (e.g. daily stand-up, sprint planning, sprint review).

  • Works with team members to ensure products are working in production (depending on DevOps model).

What are the requirements needed for this position?

  • 3+ years of experience as a Technical Product Owner, Business Analyst, SME or process owner.

  • 1+ year of experience managing a team of 5+ people preferred; additional business or technical training may be required.

  • Ability to lead, prioritize and work independently or as part of a project team to complete multiple tasks concurrently.

  • Ability to process complex time-sensitive data and information from multiple sources, make decisions, and communicate actions.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.

  • Ability to develop productive working relationships with both technical and non-technical partners.

  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.

What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?

  • Oracle ERP or supply chain experience.

  • Experience with ADO.

  • Experience with SQL.

  • Experience with Insurance/Warranty industry.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, technology or related field.

  • Experience with Agile development preferred and Agile certification a plus.
