Nestlé Canada Inc. in London, Ontario is seeking a Technical Packaging Manager on a 12-month contract to lead I&R packaging strategies.

You will develop and introduce new packaging solutions and serve as the local guardian of packaging standards, coordinating projects from concept to launch. This role requires 6+ years of packaging development experience in FMCG, a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, and hands-on factory execution with CAPEX projects.

What to Expect

The role of Technical Packaging Manager – Ice Cream is a key position within the business operations team. This position is passionate about developing and implementing Innovation and Renovation (I&R) business strategies. The main responsibility is to work on the development and introduction of new packaging solutions and be the local guardian of packaging standards. The Technical Packaging Manager will manage technical projects and support factory(ies) and marketing on projects/ initiatives related to packaging. This position is an existing vacancy.

A day in the life:

Execution of I&R Strategy

• Ensure technical delivery of medium to high complexity I&R projects from concept to post-launch evaluation, using structured project delivery processes to prepare, propose, and lead packaging projects aligned with consumer needs, business strategy, and operational requirements.
• Responsible to coordinate and detail factory trials including machinability, shelf-life, storage handling, laboratory and transport tests for validation of newly developed packaging and modifications in specifications.
• Support to exploratory work into new business opportunities, assessing and presenting packaging technical feasibility.

Product and Process Technical Expert

• Deliver continuous optimization / Improvement of current packaging, filling and palletization operations within factory(ies) according to local business needs and supply situation and/or implementation of initiatives
• Develop and maintains within TAG the proficiencies required for packaging mastership
• Act as the link between technical community and local operations -connecting internally and externally to expand & develop technical competence and ways of improving packaging solutions
• Manage technical relationship with relevant suppliers and manage resolution of packaging materials complaints
• Assist factory(ies) and provide them with necessary support to ensure mastership of packaging operations
• Validation of documentation for food contact packaging & co-operate with Quality, Research and Development & Packaging Specialist to implement Packaging Material Monitoring Plan
• Travel to warehouses supplier or external manufactures as required

Role Requirements

• 6+ years of packaging development experience within the food, beverage, or consumer goods industry, with a proven track record of managing complex, cross-functional projects in a fast-paced FMCG environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Packaging, Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, Automation, or related field) combined with strong technical expertise in packaging processes, including cartoning, flow wrapping, case packing, equipment integration, and troubleshooting with suppliers and converters.
• Strong technical knowledge of packaging processes, including cartoning, flow wrapping, case packing, equipment interfaces, troubleshooting, material selection, sustainability, and recyclability requirements.
• Hands‑on factory execution experience supporting CAPEX projects, line trials, commissioning, start‑up, food safety programs, regulatory compliance, and end‑to‑end packaging development from manufacturing through consumer delivery.
