Technical Officer (School Environment/ ALC and XLC Leaarning Centre
As a Technical Support Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring the safety, logistics, and operational support of outdoor and experiential learning programmes.
- Delivering first aid, equipment setup, and safety support for height, water, and expedition activities in line with Training Safety Policy (TSP).
- Supporting the execution of ALC/XLC programmes, including logistical and technical assistance.
- Managing incident response, height rescue systems, and evacuation procedures during and after programmes.
- Implementing and maintaining safety systems and protocols across the facility.
- Assisting in resource planning and administrative processes to ensure smooth operations.
- Participating in overnight camps and programmes when required.
- Conducting safety checks and equipment maintenance.
- Coordinating with facilitators and programme leads to ensure readiness and compliance.
- Providing on-site support during high-risk activities such as abseiling, kayaking, and climbing.
- Ensuring proper documentation and reporting of incidents and safety audits.
The Role:
This role requires a person who is proactive, safety‑conscious and highly organized, delivering the above responsibilities while ensuring compliance with internal and external safety standards.
What Are We Looking For?
We are seeking a passionate and safety‑conscious individual with the following qualifications and attributes:
- Diploma in Outdoor and Adventure Learning or related disciplines.
- Certifications in key areas such as:
- Abseil Proficiency Level 2 (SNAS Level 2)
- BizSafe Level 2
- Kayaking 2‑Star Certification
- Lifesaving Levels 1, 2, 3 / Bronze Medallion
- Sports Climbing Level 2 (SNCS 2)
- Sport Climbing Activity Supervisor
- Working at Height
- Wilderness First Aid
- Strong skills in safety and risk management, group facilitation, and outdoor activity planning.
- Experience in camping, hiking, backpacking, navigation, cycling, and challenge course management.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including overnight programmes.
- Excellent problem‑solving and decision‑making skills in dynamic environments.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Able to handle outdoor challenges.
- Familiarity with incident management systems and safety documentation.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
