Job summary

L3Harris is seeking a Technical Lead - System Engineering in Montreal to own the design, integration, and verification of control and data acquisition systems for the Power Division. You will mentor engineers, drive engineering standards, and lead hardware/software integration across multi-disciplinary teams.

The role requires 8+ years in project engineering, strong data acquisition and DCS experience, and fluency in English and French.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline; equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Minimum of 8 years of project engineering experience or related work experience
Subject matter expert with knowledge and hands‑on experience in data acquisition hardware, software interfaces and industrial communication protocols within distributed control systems (DCS) environments.
Experience with selection/design of hardware for the control and monitoring of process plant instrumentation and translating customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
Proven experience using IBM DOORS or similar requirements management tools, including requirements capture, traceability, change control, version management, and verification/validation support within complex engineering projects.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage internal teams, customers, and vendors.
Ability to design and execute thorough test procedures, diagnose faults, and implement corrective actions, including detailed troubleshooting of subassemblies to the component level.
Ability to decompose complex systems into functional components and analyze interdependencies across hardware and software interfaces.
Bilingual communication (English/French) is essential to this role.

Responsibilities

Lead systems engineering leadership: oversee the systems engineering management plan and engineering processes.
Provide tools, procedures, and training for Systems Engineers; identify training needs and deliver training plans.
Lead and collaborate with diverse teams and influence decisions across the organization.
Provide mentoring to engineers and contribute to development of new concepts or standards.
Manage budget and resources allocated for systems engineering and communicate with leadership on key matters.
Contribute to bids and proposals by reviewing design proposals and preparing systems engineering estimates.
Plan engineering metrics and implement measurement and reporting plans.
Perform system planning, integration, verification and validation, cost and risk analyses.
Review artefacts and ensure quality objectives are achieved.
Lead the development of test plans, procedures, and traceability, and generate test reports.
Manage technical documentation and baselines; coordinate design reviews and information management.
Develop a measurement framework for engineering metrics and drive process improvements.
