Mohawk College is seeking a Technical Instructional Designer for a critical role in their ERP transformation project. This position focuses on creating engaging, user-centric training materials that facilitate the effective adoption of new technologies. The successful candidate will collaborate with subject matter experts and development teams to design training paths and materials tailored for diverse user groups.
Status: Initiatives & Opportunities (June 2025 - December 2027)
Hours: Monday - Friday, 35 hours/week
Home Campus: Fennell (hybrid work arrangements available)
Rate of Pay: Payband J (Start Rate: $42.56 per hour)

Preference will be given to qualified employees within the Full Time Support Staff bargaining unit, Appendix D (6 consecutive months in Appendix D status) and RPT employees who have passed probation at Mohawk College.

Job Summary
Mohawk College is undertaking a major digital transformation through the Banner Business Transformation Project, reimagining our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, Banner and related processes, to enhance the student, faculty, and staff experience.
The Technical Instructional Designer will be a key contributor to the success of this initiative, designing dynamic, user-centric learning experiences that support learning and change adoption across the institution. Working in close partnership with the Change Management team, subject matter experts, and cross-functional teams, the incumbent will lead the creation of accessible, multi-modal training content tailored to the needs of diverse audiences.
Learning solutions may include e-learning modules, interactive simulations, job aids, end-user and superuser guides, instructional videos, and trainer materials designed for virtual, hybrid, in-person, and self-directed learning environments. A critical component of this role is the development of train-the-trainer programs, equipping SMEs to confidently deliver effective, consistent training during and after implementation.
Drawing on adult learning theory, instructional design best practices, and a deep understanding of educational technologies and content authoring tools, the Technical Instructional Designer will transform complex technical concepts and business processes into accessible, engaging, and results-driven learning experiences.
They will also develop evaluation strategies to measure the effectiveness of the training to ensure learners have the knowledge and skills required for full adoption of the new ERP system.
What you'll be doing:
Design of end-user learning materials for Mohawk's ERP system (Banner) in consultation with business SMEs
Train-the-Trainer Strategy
Relationships and Partnerships
Partner, consult and collaborate with various teams across the college:
Project Management and Quality Assurance
Other duties as assigned.
What you'll bring to the role:
o Content authoring tools / software such as: Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate or equivalent.
o Educational Technologies such as Kaltura, ThingLink, H5P, Camtasia, etc.
o Multimedia design.
o Instructional Design: design, development, delivery and evaluation of user training.
o Learning/Educational technologies.
o Consultation and client service supporting multiple levels within an organization.
o Project Management.
o Multimedia design: digital teaching/learning content (text, graphics, images, audio, video, etc.) and online publishing methods.
o Extensive knowledge and experience working within a learning management system (LMS), preferably Cornerstone, and document sharing platforms such as SharePoint.
o Working collaboratively in a team environment.
