Located in Burlington Ontario, ABBA Parts is a specialized, privately owned manufacturer of high quality replacement parts and pumps with a strict focus on the municipal aftermarket. Since 1989 ABBA Parts has been a valuable resource for countless municipalities across Canada and the United States including those operating four of the five largest WWTP’s in the USA.

What We’re Looking For:

To help us expand our business, we’re looking for a Technical Inside Sales Representative / Application Specialist who possesses previous experience with: selling pumps or other similar rotating equipment; responding to customer inquiries, preparing quotes and processing orders; trouble shooting product performance inquiries and successfully navigating tough situations like warranty claims. The ideal candidate has: a strong mechanical aptitude; an exceptional capacity to acquire technical knowledge; experience in a sales role; effective communication skills; the ability to prioritize and multi task ensuring the most effective use of time; the ability to learn in a self-directed manner; a positive attitude and desire to succeed.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Quickly learn and continue to develop detailed knowledge of our products and the brands, sizes & models of pumps for which ABBA makes replacement parts and pumps
• Field incoming inquiries and provide technical support / customer service to: inside and outside sales, end user customers, sales reps and distributors
• Review, interpret and qualify inquiries by seeking additional information from the customer (if required.)
• Prepare detailed and accurate product quotations, review and follow-up with customers for the purpose of winning orders
• Process orders, accurately enter data, specify required parts and machining variations, review and correctly select required drawings and accurately create/modify B.O.M’s for assemblies. Confirm assumptions and answer all questions left open at the quote stage by thoroughly mining our engineering and historical resources (both digital and hard copy records) for answers to unknowns
• Work along side Engineering on custom engineered projects from concept to completion
• Provide customer service and sales support to our customers including: municipal end-users; pump repair shops; distributors and outside sales representatives
• Investigate warranty claims and trouble shoot technical problems with customers

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Any combination of post secondary education and on the job training in the areas of: Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Administration – Sales/Marketing
• Prior experience with pumps and a strong understanding of rotating equipment is highly valued
• Must have some experience with both: a) business to business sales/inside sales experience selling products and services and b) experience within a technical capacity such as applications, engineering/technology, technical support, field service for a manufacturer of pumping equipment (or other similar & relevant field).
• Minimum 2 years experience working in a manufacturing environment. Preference given to those with knowledge of pumps or similar rotating equipment
• High level of attention to detail.
• Prior experience with quote preparation (estimating) and order entry is required.
• Proven experience working with customers and managing customer expectations.
• Able to read and interpret machining drawings, pump assembly drawings, technical specifications and technical product manuals
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Above average math and deductive reasoning skills
• Experience using precision measuring tools (verniers)
• Able to read and interpret 2D mechanical drawings
• Experience with SAGE ERP or other similar ERP software
• Proficiency with Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) Preference to those with superior Excel skills
• Self starter and self motivated

Job Type: Full time. 100% in person.

Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm with 1 hr lunch
