Job summary

NORR is seeking a Designer in Canada to apply technical detailing and integrate materials to produce concise construction documents. You will work with the design team to develop solutions aligned with context, budget, and aesthetic requirements of architectural projects, coordinating across disciplines through all phases.

Qualified applicants will have post-secondary education, 7–10 years of project experience, proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD, and knowledge of building systems and codes.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education completed in architecture or related field.
  • Experience in all phases of the project cycle is required.
  • Experience in Public projects is an asset.
  • Registration with a relevant professional architectural association is an asset.
  • Ability to obtain security clearance.
  • 7–10 years of project work experience.
  • Architectural design software skills including Revit and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

  • Develop technical designs and edit architectural drawings to meet quality, timelines, and budget requirements.
  • Perform design activities such as programming, code research, material and building systems research, and area calculations.
  • Evaluate site conditions and perform site surveys.
  • Review project products, services, and shop drawings.
  • Process permit response letters and coordinate revisions with engineers and consultants to obtain necessary documentation and permits.
  • Coordinate with contractor or sub-consultants to address constructability and owner concerns.

As a Designer, you will apply and integrate technical detailing and material technologies to develop design solution into a concise set of construction documents. Using your ability to analyze and understand design intent you will produce efficient and effective technical design solutions. You will work with members of the design team to develop design solutions appropriate to the context, budget, and aesthetic requirements of architectural projects. You will use your knowledge of detailing, building materials, building codes, and construction technologies to collaborate with other professional disciplines and have opportunities to coordinate the design through all phases of the project.

  • Reviewing project products, services, and shop drawings
  • Processing permit response letters and coordinating revisions with engineers and consultants to obtain necessary documentation and permits
  • Coordinating with contractor, sub-consultants, or relevant building authorities to address and document issues with constructability or owner concerns
You Will Make an Impact by
  • Successfully completed related post-secondary education
  • Experience in all phases of the project cycle is required
  • Architectural design software skills including Revit, AutoCAD and other architectural design software
  • Familiarity with MEP and Structural building systems and building codes is required
  • Registered with a relevant professional architectural association is an asset
  • Ability to obtain security clearance
  • 7-10 years of project work experience
  • Experience in Public projects is an asset

The hiring base salary range for this vacant position is $70,000.00 - $105,000.00 annually. Actual compensation will be based on several factors such as education, experience, internal equity and skills.
