Job summary

NORR Architects Engineers Planners in Calgary is seeking an experienced Designer to develop architectural solutions across residential and multi-family projects. You will collaborate with design teams, coordinate with disciplines, and ensure designs meet budgets, codes and client expectations while advancing sustainability goals.

Qualifying candidates will have post-secondary education, experience across the project cycle, and proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp and Photoshop.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education completed.
• Experience in all phases of the project cycle.
• Proficiency with architectural design software including Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, PhotoShop.
• Familiarity with MEP and Structural building systems and building codes.

Responsibilities

• Compiles information from reports and documents to understand broad project requirements.
• Develops architectural designs that meet quality, timelines and budget.
• Coordinates design intent with other disciplines.
• Integrates engineering requirements and site information while conforming to codes.
• Prepares design reports, drawings and models to office standards.
• Performs site visitations to check construction document compliance and resolves deviations.

As a Designer, you will work with other members of the design team in order todevelop design solutions appropriate to the context, budget and aesthetic requirements of architectural projects. You will collaborate with other professional disciplines and have opportunities to coordinate the design through all phases of the project.

You Will Make an Impact by

• Compiles information from reports and published documents; evaluates and analyzes the information to understand broad requirements of project
• Develops architectural designs, to ensure an exemplary solution is delivered that meets quality parameters, project timelines and budgetary requirements
• Coordinates design intent with other disciplines
• Integrates engineering requirements, site surveys and field review information, adhering to applicable codes and jurisdictional requirements
• Prepares design reports, drawings and models following office standards
• Performs site visitations to determine compliance with construction documents; identifies any deviations and liaises with owner and contactor to resolve issues in a timely manner
• Reviews project products, services, and shop drawings to ensure adherence to project documents, relevant jurisdictional codes and corporate quality controls

You Will Bring to the Team

• Successfully completed related post-secondary education
• Experience in all phases of the project cycle is required
• Architectural design software skills including Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, PhotoShop, and other architectural design software
• Familiarity with MEP and Structural building systems and building codes is required
• Registered with a relevant professional architectural association is an asset
• 7-10 years of project work experience
• Experience in Residential projects is an asset

The hiring base salary range for this vacant position is $70,000.00 - $105,000.00 annually. Actual compensation will be based on several factors such as education, experience, internal equity and skills.
