This is an outstanding opportunity for a Hydrologist, Technical Consulting Director seeking a leadership role in our Water practice. You will design and lead water studies for major mining projects across Canada. Your work will support environmental assessments, permitting, operational decisions, and closure planning throughout the mining lifecycle. You can work from our offices in Vancouver, Calgary, or Toronto, remotely, or in a hybrid model. This senior role involves shaping strategy and growing our business in Canada.

As a Technical Director, you will provide oversight and technical guidance to our Integrated Water Resources team, leveraging expertise in hydrology, hydrogeology, geochemistry, and toxicology. You will focus on delivering insights and value through technical analyses and models, especially in water management, impact assessments, and permitting for large-scale mining projects. You will serve as a key client contact and represent ERM, helping to build relationships and win new projects.

Your responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise to expand water management services and client base in Canada, contributing to impact assessment, permitting, risk assessment, and site closure projects.
  • Lead preparation of technical documents, from hands-on interpretation to delegating to junior staff and reviewing.
  • Support business development by identifying opportunities, preparing proposals, and developing client relationships.
  • Leverage existing client relationships to enhance ERM's profile through technical excellence and business growth.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate work and communicate findings effectively.

Who you are:

  • P.Eng. or P.Geo with MSc/PhD in civil or environmental engineering or related fields.
  • 8+ years (15+ preferred) in consulting for water resource management, impact assessment, and permitting in mining, with expertise in hydrometeorology, water modeling, and environmental water quality.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory drivers in mining and energy sectors, with broad impact assessment knowledge.
  • Excellent team-building, influencing skills, integrity, and client management experience.
  • Recognized technical reputation and positive regulator relationships.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain long-term client relationships.
  • People management experience.
  • Strong English communication skills.
