Job summary

NextGenEnergyJobs seeks a Technical Consultant – Enterprise Data Engineer (Geospatial Data & Platforms) to design and implement robust, scalable database solutions supporting mission-critical applications across geospatial workloads.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, optimize performance, enforce security, and lead data workflows using SQL, Python, and ArcGIS Enterprise, with on-site Canada operations and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' hands-on experience in database design, administration, and optimization.
• Experience with Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or SAP HANA.
• Scripting in SQL and Python for automation and data workflows.
• Exposure to geospatial concepts, spatial data types, and spatial indexing.
• Ability to explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise geodatabases; GIS integration knowledge.

Help power mission-critical systems through enterprise data.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement robust, scalable, and secure database solutions to support mission-critical applications
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams during all phases of implementation including requirements, analysis, design, build/configuration, and deployment
• Configure and maintain database environments, including backup, restore, high-availability, and disaster recovery strategies
• Monitor and tune database performance using industry-standard tools and methodologies (such as query optimization, indexing strategies)
• Implement data security measures, access controls, and compliance standards across environments
• Automate routine database loading, maintenance, and monitoring tasks to improve efficiency
• Provide technical guidance and best practices for database design, migration, and integration projects

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in database design, administration, and optimization for Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or SAP HANA
• Familiarity with database design principles, data loading techniques, backup and recovery solutions, performance monitoring and tuning, database maintenance, and security
• Scripting skills in SQL and Python for automation and data workflows
• Exposure to geospatial concepts such as spatial data types, coordinate systems, and spatial indexing
• Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to technical peers and non-technical project managers or customers
• US citizenship with Active or Current (within 2 years of active) Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI eligibility
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, GIS, or related STEM field
• Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise geodatabases
• Knowledge of integrating GIS with other enterprise systems
• CompTIA Security + certification
• One or more industry-standard IT certifications (such as Esri, Microsoft, Amazon, PostgreSQL, Oracle)
• Master`s degree in computer science, mathematics, GIS, or related STEM field
