As a Technical Art Director at Ubi MTL, you possess a comprehensive understanding of our technology's capabilities and limitations, with a broad view of the project. You provide expert insights, tools, and support to guide the game and its creators towards success.

You collaborate with other directors early in the process to discuss intentions before making commitments. You establish actionable plans to translate ideas into practical implementation.

While development presents daily challenges, you maintain focus on the big picture. As a strategic thinker and tactical planner, you balance short-term priorities with long-term goals, always considering the future impact of your decisions.

What you’ll do

  • Collaborate with team members to develop the overall vision and assess technical feasibility.
  • Identify and analyze risks related to engine, data, features, etc.
  • Assess existing tools and design custom solutions to support art pipelines and workflows, sustaining the vision.
  • Meet with technical artists and assistant technical art directors to share information, enforce standards, set benchmarks, and provide feedback.
  • Resolve complex issues and approve technical specifications.
  • Prepare post-mortems and recommend improvements for creating and integrating graphic data.
  • Stay informed about technological advancements and market trends to define best practices and share them across studios and the industry.
  • Participate in recruitment to build and grow the technical art team.

What you bring

  • Experience in art, technical art, programming, or related fields, including leadership experience.
  • Familiarity with bug tracking software (e.g., Jira) and version control systems (e.g., Perforce).
  • An innovative, collaborative, empathetic, and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Strong critical thinking, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail, curiosity, resourcefulness, and flexibility.

What to send us
