Your role involves providing expert insights, developing tools, and supporting the team to ensure the success of the game development process.

You collaborate with other directors early in the project to discuss intentions and establish feasible plans, considering technical factors such as rendering, performance, memory, and intangible factors like timing and momentum. Your goal is to bridge the gap between ideas and their practical implementation, maintaining a clear vision throughout development.

While managing daily challenges, you keep the big picture in focus. As a strategic thinker and tactical planner, you balance immediate priorities with long-term objectives, always considering the future impact of your decisions.

What you’ll do
  1. Collaborate with core team members to develop the overall vision and assess technical feasibility.
  2. Identify and analyze risks related to engine, data, features, etc.
  3. Evaluate existing tools and design custom solutions to support art pipelines and workflows, sustaining the project's vision.
  4. Meet with technical artists and assistant technical art directors to share updates, enforce standards, set benchmarks, and provide feedback.
  5. Resolve complex issues and approve technical specifications.
  6. Prepare post-mortems and recommend improvements for creating and integrating graphic data.
  7. Stay updated on technological advancements and market trends to define best practices and share them across studios and with the industry.
  8. Participate in recruitment to build and grow the technical art team.
What you bring
  • Experience in art, technical art, programming, or related fields, with leadership experience.
  • Familiarity with bug tracking software (e.g., Jira) and version control systems (e.g., Perforce).
  • Innovative, collaborative, empathetic, and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Strong critical thinking, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail, curiosity, resourcefulness, and flexibility.
What to send our way
  • Your CV highlighting education, experience, skills, and shipped games.
  • Samples of your work or relevant supporting documentation.

Note: If you require a work permit, eligibility may depend on your education and relevant work experience, as per government requirements.
