Job description

Our motive is to develop innovative action games set in iconic worlds where every player feels like the hero. Let's say that again—iconic worlds where every player feels like the hero. Our passion has taken us from imagining dogfighter pilots in Star Wars: Squadrons to re-creating Isaac Clarke onboard the Ishimura in Dead Space.

Currently, we're working on two exciting projects, an original Iron Man action-adventure game and what's coming next for Battlefield.
We believe in sharing our passion with our community and each other, fostering an inclusive culture, and nurturing a growth mindset.
Although our approach may seem simple, it leads us to create the best work of our careers, bringing unique and immersive experiences to our players.

The Motive Battlefield team is looking for a Technical Animator with skillsets in character rigging, tools and workflows or runtime systems and integration. You will report to the Motive Technical Animation Director and collaborate with content creation teams, animators, designers, programmers and other technical animators across the Battlefield franchise. You will build content and systems while supporting animators for both gameplay and cinematic features.

Responsibilities:

Skeleton modification, animation control rigging and simulation

Scripting tools and workflows

Maintaining asset pipelines

Building runtime animation blend trees and systems

Procedural engine features and support for animators and programmers

Contribute to the development of content workflows and pipelines related to character and animation data.

Qualifications

At least 3+ years of cinematic/games production experience working in technical art, rigging, animation, game engines.

Experience authoring complex skeletons, control rigs and secondary animation.

Experience with game engines (commercial or proprietary).

Experience with asset optimization challenges and real-time limitations related to character and animation systems.

Experience with runtime animations systems like blend trees and state machines.

Knowledge of animation principles and game engine concepts like “Root Motion”.

Experience scripting/programming in Python is a plus.

Experience with animation software like Autodesk Maya or MotionBuilder.

Effective at communicating with different audiences: artists, engineers, designers, managers.

A solutions-provider, especially as it pertains to testing and debugging technical issues.

A willingness to jump into the unknown and solve new problems to resolve technical challenges and limitations.
