The Team

Global Banking and Markets Engineering (GBME) is a dynamic, award-winning technology team supporting Scotiabank’s Corporate, Investment Banking, and Capital Markets divisions.

The Role

GBME seeks a Technical Analyst to act as a liaison between business stakeholders and engineering/architecture teams, ensuring timely, efficient, high-quality solution delivery across projects.

The ideal candidate will have a results-oriented, curious mindset with strong technical skills, working closely with engineers, solutions architects, and business teams to develop scalable, excellent solutions that add value.

Key Responsibilities
  • Understand business functions to identify problems and improvement opportunities.
  • Prepare comprehensive business requirements documentation to support project efforts.
  • Create and deliver Business Requirements Documents, Design Documents, Use Cases, and Process Models.
  • Develop project plans, monitor progress, review finances, and secure stakeholder consensus.
  • Collaborate across GBME teams during all system development stages, bridging business and technical sides.
  • Liaise between business and IT to provide suitable technical solutions.
  • Build effective relationships with colleagues globally.
  • Support production issues and manage escalations during release cycles.
  • Perform ad hoc tasks as needed.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Experience coordinating across multiple teams and functions.
  • At least 3 years of practical experience in capital markets and market risk.
  • Proficiency with SQL Server and ability to independently create and run queries.
  • Experience with all SDLC phases.
  • Proficiency with Unix tools, shell scripting (Bash, Perl, Python), SQL, PL/SQL, and SQL Loader or similar.
  • Ability to translate business needs into technical specifications and deliver results.
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in business administration, computer science, or related field.
