Position Overview
Reporting to the IT Manager – Technical and Client Services, the Technical Analyst is responsible for provisioning, installing, configuring, supporting, and maintaining hardware, software, and infrastructure systems. This includes administration and support of specific systems, environments, and supporting IT projects related to infrastructure and technology.
The Technical Analyst will work closely with application, business, and departmental leads to ensure systems and IT infrastructure are reliable, secure, compliant with best practices and regulations, and optimized for performance.
Primary Responsibilities
1. IT Infrastructure and Systems Management
Deploy, administer, and support the organization's IT infrastructure with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ensure high availability, performance, and scalability, with proactive monitoring and maintenance. Implement security measures, manage system updates, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations like PHIPA and PIPEDA. Support disaster recovery planning and backup solutions. Manage upgrades, migrations, and improvements in line with organizational needs.
Maintain IT best practices, standards, and regulatory compliance across all systems and documentation. The infrastructure includes physical servers (Dell preferred), virtualization platforms (VMWare, Hyper-V, Citrix), enterprise storage (EMC Powerstore, Unity, VNX), Windows and Linux OS, IAM and PAM solutions (Microsoft, Azure AD, Okta, BeyondTrust, Sailpoint, ManageEngine), networking (Aruba, Cisco), web technologies (Apache, IIS, PHP), databases (MS SQL, MySQL), cloud services (Azure, AWS, GCP), backup solutions (IBM Spectrum Protect, EMC DataDomain, Rubrik), and file/print services.
2. Technical Leadership and Collaboration
Serve as escalation point for support issues, providing technical leadership in support and project tasks. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, external partners, and vendors. Maintain detailed system documentation and policies. Mentor junior team members and support their development.
3. Strategic Planning and IT Standards
Assist in developing strategic plans and long-term technology roadmaps. Follow ITIL best practices to improve service management processes such as incident, problem, change, and request management.
4. IT Asset Lifecycle, Vendor, and Contract Management
Support vendor contract review, procurement, and IT asset lifecycle management from acquisition to decommissioning. Ensure compliance with licensing and track assets effectively.
5. Metrics and Reporting
Create and maintain dashboards, KPIs, and performance reports. Use metrics to identify areas for improvement and ensure continuous service enhancement.
6. Decision Making
Support strategic and operational decisions regarding IT infrastructure and cybersecurity. Prioritize and resolve escalated issues, making informed decisions on corrective actions.
7. Other Responsibilities
Stay informed on industry trends and emerging technologies. Provide onsite support to remote locations as needed. Perform additional duties as assigned by IT leadership.
