Job Summary And Requirements

The Yukon Water Board Secretariat is a branch within the Executive Council Office providing professional, technical, and administrative support necessary for the proper conduct of the business of the Yukon Water Board. The Secretariat supports an independent administrative tribunal in making informed licensing decisions that promote the conservation, development, and utilization of waters for the benefit of all Canadians and Yukon residents.

The opportunity…

The Yukon Water Board Secretariat invites applications for this critical position. The Technical Advisor coordinates and integrates technical inputs from external resources and provides internal technical review and recommendations to staff and Board members on Type A and complex Type B water licence applications and plans. The candidate must be able to understand large and technologically complex projects.

Essential Qualifications

  1. Science or engineering degree (advanced degree preferred) in a water resource-related discipline.
  2. Experience conducting technical reviews of developmental projects impacting water, preferably in a northern environment.
  3. Experience preparing reports and presenting to a non-technical audience.
  4. Experience with procurement of contractors and contract management.
  5. Membership with a professional association or eligibility for registration with Engineers Yukon as a Professional Engineer is an asset.

Equivalent education, training, and experience may be considered.

Additional Information

Conditions of employment: Valid Yukon Class 5 driver’s license.

Job requirements: Travel within Yukon.
