This position reports to the Sr. Director, Technical Accounting & Sustainability Reporting and is located in Saskatoon, SK.
What you will do :
- Oversee the resolution of technical and business accounting issues arising from complex transactions.
- Consult on issues related and present strategic solutions to Global Business Unit leadership, Corporate Reporting and Accounting groups, Business Development, Treasury, and External Audit.
- Act as a centre of expertise throughout the company on matters in technical accounting, financial disclosures and transaction principles and compliance.
- Provide advice on the application and implications of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Provide research and guidance for quarterly and year-end disclosures in compliance with IFRS and regulatory requirements.
- Advise on complex accounting procedures and changes to accounting policies, and disclosure requirements.
- Support Business Development / M&A team for acquisitions, disposals, joint ventures, strategic alliances, or reorganizations.
- Review and/or perform the technical accounting aspects of impairment testing.
- Manage projects related to new reporting or corporate accounting requirements.
- Lead ad hoc initiatives across the group.
- Act as the interface between non-finance line management and the finance support team regarding accounting and disclosure compliance.
- Respond to ad hoc inquiries as they occur.
- Provide professional development to other financial professionals within Nutrien.
- Periodically manage projects within the Finance function or cross-functionally, serving as an advisor or key representative on cross-Business Unit projects.
What you will bring :
- Professional accounting designation with at least 10 years of work experience, including 5 years post-qualification.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively at all levels of the company.
- Broad understanding of how business processes affect accounting and financial disclosures.
- Up-to-date technical knowledge of accounting principles and compliance requirements in Canada and the U.S.
- Detailed knowledge of IFRS.
- Experience with accounting issues of large public companies.
- Attention to detail with a broad conceptual understanding of accounting applications and materiality.
- Problem-solving skills for complex transactions and regulatory issues.
- Experience in transaction support and acquisition accounting.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively within deadlines.
- Proven collaborative influence at all levels.
- High initiative and self-motivation.
