An established industry player is seeking a skilled accounting professional to support the spin-off of its Pork Complex business. Be a part of the preparing for the spin-off of Maple Leaf Foods’ Pork Complex business – the new Canada Packers! This role will focus in the near term on the completion of carve out financial statements and spin-off readiness, and will transition after the spin-off to being responsible for providing technical accounting support as part of the Canada Packers’ finance team.
Until the transaction closes in 2025, this role will be reporting to the assistant controller and will be responsible for ensuring the correct application of IFRS in the Pork Complex carve out financial statements. This includes preparation and review of technical accounting memos, carve out adjustments and reconciliations, financial statement notes, and other ad-hoc asks.
On a longer-term basis, this role will be responsible for accounting policies, day-to-day accounting for more complex items such as stock compensation, financial instruments, and biological assets, and other ad-hoc tasks within the financial reporting team as required.
