Tech Assistant (User Interface Design)

Location: Regina, SK

Number of Positions: 1

Salary: $29.06 - $40.71/hour (Based on education and experience)

Type of Position: Permanent Full Time

Job Summary

Responsible for creating visually appealing and user-friendly interfaces for digital products, including websites, eCommerce platforms, self-management platforms, and mobile apps. Collaborates with cross-functional teams, wireframing, prototyping, and designing high-fidelity visuals that adhere to brand and accessibility guidelines while ensuring the designs align with user experience strategy and business goals.

Typical Duties & Responsibilities

(Not all inclusive or applicable to all assignments)

  • Creates visually appealing and user-friendly digital interfaces, delivering designs from concept through to development, ensuring alignment with company goals.
  • Participates in planning sessions and workshops with stakeholders to determine design requirements, prioritizes project and design team work accordingly, and provides accurate estimates for applicable activities.
  • Organizes and facilitates design research, A/B testing, user testing, user flow mapping, wireframes, interactive prototyping, high-fidelity designs, and other UI initiatives when required.
  • Monitors and reports on market research and competitor trends to inform UI strategies and design.
  • Ensures consistency by utilizing and maintaining style guides, design systems, adhering to accessibility guidelines, and creating modular visual designs to support technical teams.
  • Coordinates and facilitates meetings for design reviews and backlog refinement, and delegates work as required.
  • Responsible for advancing and maintaining technical knowledge in design methodologies, responsive/mobile-first design, UX/UI practices, design systems, accessibility design, agile frameworks and principles, web frameworks, front-end development languages and techniques.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Design, Arts, Computer Science or equivalent with 1 year of UI design experience for digital platforms OR Diploma in Interactive Design or equivalent with 3 years of UI design experience for digital platforms OR Level 30 Math or English with 5 years of UI design experience for digital platforms.
  • Working knowledge of design and prototyping tools, as well as design systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of web production and digital marketing principles including human-centered design and responsive design.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers and various software applications,
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with others.
  • Ability to lead, direct, and train others.
  • Good organization and planning skills.
  • Good research, analysis, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Working knowledge of project management principles and agile development processes.

This is an on-site position located at the location(s) above. The successful candidate must be located within the province of Saskatchewan. Out of province/country candidates must be willing to relocate. Flexible work opportunities, in province, may be available.
