Altitude Sports, a Montreal-based ecommerce leader, seeks a Team Lead, Quality Assurance to shape and govern QA practices across engineering squads. You will act as a quality conscience, defining testing strategies, and driving reliability for our high-traffic platform.

You will mentor the QA team, implement robust processes, and partner with Directors to embed quality across squad cadences. Fluency in French and English is expected; a hybrid work model in Montreal is offered.

The role

As Team Lead, Quality Assurance, reporting to the Director, Product Engineering, you carry the quality assurance practice within the engineering department by acting as the safety net for edge cases and exceptions. You lead the QA team, help implement essential processes and tools, and monitor quality trends to support our platform's resilience.

What you will do

• Act as the quality conscience of the department by identifying edge cases, exception scenarios, and helping anticipate them before they become incidents.
• Partner closely with engineering squads to strengthen a shared culture of quality where every developer feels accountable for what they ship.
• Design, document, and evolve quality assurance processes tailored to each squad's reality, including testing strategies and acceptance criteria.
• Evaluate, propose, and implement tools that support quality, such as automated testing frameworks, bug tracking, and observability tools.
• Grow the platform's automated test coverage by identifying risk areas and prioritizing high-impact investments.
• Lead and coordinate targeted exploratory testing on critical or high-risk features.
• Define and track the department's quality metrics, including defect rates, production escape rates, and deployment stability over time.
• Regularly communicate the state of quality and key trends to the Director, Product Engineering and other leaders.
• Mentor and grow the QA team members while building the practice to welcome new talent over time.
• Partner with the Director, Delivery to seamlessly embed quality practices into squad cadence and contribute to incident post-mortems.

Who you are

• 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance, including hands-on experience in test automation.
• Relevant university degree, preferably in computer science.
• Solid understanding of modern testing strategies, continuous integration practices, and quality challenges specific to high-traffic e-commerce platforms.
• Strong analytical skills to think through edge cases and a keen sensitivity to performance, accessibility, security, and user experience.
• Proven formal or informal leadership experience with a collaborative ability to influence and build trust with developers.
• Data-driven decision-making approach and effective proficiency in using AI tools to accelerate daily QA activities.
• Bilingual (French and English), both written and spoken.
