Team Leader, Quality Programs - Emergency Department

Are you a person who can promote a collaborative team-based approach, lead and coordinate the execution of strategically important projects? Do enjoy taking initiative to implement change to improve safety and drive practice? Do you thrive in a diverse and fast-paced dynamic setting? If so, consider taking on the role of Team Leader, Quality Programs.

As the Team Leader ' Quality Programs for the Emergency Department, you will support the day-to-day and strategic activities focused on improving patient/family & staff safety, support our culture of continuous quality improvement, collaborate on change initiatives aimed at driving clinical practice forward and improving patient experience.

Here's What You'll Get To Do

  • Support and promote our culture of Caring Safely - lead by example, conduct RCAs (reasonable cause analyses) to better understand safety risks, coach safety behaviours, identify good catches, identify quality opportunities to collaborate with key stakeholders to develop, test and implement improvement strategies using appropriate frameworks and methodologies.
  • To support ongoing vigilance and surveillance for communicable disease and new pathogens, you will participate in practice audits, change initiatives and contact tracing to support patient and staff safety.
  • Lead the management of safety reports: involve relevant stakeholders, ensure timely follow-up, identify trends, and initiate appropriate actions or improvement initiatives.
  • Provide leadership in preparing for the 2025 Accreditation Canada survey and site visit, and evolve our approaches for continued readiness; participate as the ED Lead for future Accreditation reviews.
  • Co-chair the ED Quality Practice Council.
  • Collaborate with members of the ED Leadership Team, including the CSNs, COSNs, RN Council Representatives, to execute on department goals and objectives.
  • Work closely with local quality leaders across the organization of safety report review, follow up, collaboration on system level changes and to assist in tracking of trends.
  • Participation in various local and hospital wide committees and working groups to ensure the unique ED perspective is represented.
  • Promote and coach the principles of continuous process/quality improvement, employing root cause analysis to understand the problems and challenges faced by frontline staff, develop and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Support the development of meaningful measures of quality performance and analyze data to identify, interpret, and rapidly respond to trends.

Essential

Here's What You'll Need

  • Relevant clinical experience in a Paediatric Emergency Department setting is required.
  • Masters-level preparation in healthcare quality or related clinical field is recommended and/or relevant experience in quality, safety and risk management.
  • Demonstrated project management skills and success with change management.
  • Proven leadership and coaching skills.
  • Excel in working in and fostering a team environment; Excellent interpersonal and communication skills along with strong problem solving and critical thinking skills; demonstrated ability to flex and respond to changing priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to be highly motivated to take initiative and produce results.
  • Familiarity with quantitative & qualitative analysis, development of KPIs to monitor performance.
  • Demonstrated commitment and actions in advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion objectives.

Assets

  • Basic skills with Excel, advanced skills.
  • Certification in LEAN methodology.
