A leading organization in mental health is seeking a Team Lead who will oversee client care and coordinate between staff and management. Reporting to the Manager of WSFU / SOTU, and collaborating with the Complex Care and Recovery practice leadership group, the Team Lead supports the Manager in anticipating the needs of the inpatient unit and works with the interprofessional team to provide client/patient-centered care aligned with CAMH’s vision and strategic directions.
The Team Lead is responsible for communication, liaison, and coordination of client admissions, discharges, transfers, and appointments during assigned shifts and future shifts as needed. They facilitate service delivery, ensuring high standards of quality and safety, and ensure clear nurse/patient assignments that reflect accountability principles and adhere to CAMH standards.
Responsibilities include coordinating breaks, monitoring unit needs, advocating for staffing adjustments, linking new staff with resources, facilitating orientation, and coordinating staff participation in meetings and training. The Team Lead also manages unit rounds, care conferences, shift reports, and ensures accurate census and reports, supporting a healthy, diverse, and team-oriented workplace.
This position is based at the Queen Street Site, on a regular day shift. The candidate must be a member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario, hold a current B.C.L.S. (CPR), and preferably possess or pursue a BScN and CNA certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing. A minimum of two years of clinical experience in mental health and addictions, especially with forensic populations, is preferred. The candidate should have expertise in managing risks related to aggressive behavior and elopement, and possess leadership skills in problem-solving, decision-making, conflict resolution, communication, delegation, and team building.
Effective communication with team members and management, knowledge of interdisciplinary roles, and a commitment to safety standards are essential. Bilingualism or proficiency in a second language is an asset.
