Job description

As the Team Lead, Water / Wastewater Engineering, you will play a key role in managing municipal water and wastewater infrastructure related projects. Projects may include studies, asset management, design and construction services for new / upgrades to existing water and sewage pumping stations, reservoirs, water and wastewater treatment plants. Leveraging your technical expertise and leadership abilities, you will oversee multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions, ensuring excellence in project execution and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities :

  • Lead technical project management, including scope, budget, schedule, invoicing, financial performance, and risk management.
  • Plan and execute high-quality projects by developing accurate scopes of work, cost estimates, schedules, and deliverables.
  • Chair and coordinate multidisciplinary design review meetings, ensuring alignment with project requirements and timely resolution of risks and issues.
  • Ensure compliance with RVA’s Project Quality Management System and contribute to company-wide quality initiatives.
  • Provide engineering and technical expertise for water, wastewater, and infrastructure renewal projects, including analysis and design services.
  • Lead and participate in studies, assessments, detailed design, cost estimating, specifications, contract documentation, tendering, and contract administration.
  • Review and authenticate technical documents such as memos, reports, drawings, and specifications.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, regulatory bodies, utility agencies, stakeholders, and contractors, including securing required permits and approvals.
  • Support client relationship management and business development, including proposal preparation.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and support staff, providing mentorship and supervision to junior engineers, technologists, and field staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, aligned with the role and responsibilities.

Your Qualifications

As the ideal candidate, you’re a seasoned engineer who has managed moderate to complex projects in the municipal water and wastewater sector. You have demonstrated experience managing and coordinating a multidisciplinary team, and you’re motivated by the opportunity to build and lead your own local team in a growing organization.

Qualifications :

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Nova Scotia; PMP designation is an asset.
  • Over 8 years of progressive experience in project management and design engineering for municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Skilled in full-cycle design activities including studies, functional and detailed design, reports, contract preparation, tendering, construction administration, and commissioning.
  • Demonstrated experience in multidisciplinary teamwork, project coordination, and construction contract administration.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant Canadian federal and provincial regulations.
  • Proven ability to manage timelines and budgets, write proposals, and support business / client development in a consulting environment.
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Deep understanding of consulting engineering business issues; client-focused with a commitment to delivering tailored solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative team approach with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships.
  • High integrity and a commitment to ethical, fair, and sustainable practices.
  • Self-motivated, eager to learn, and dedicated to contributing to company and project success as an active participant in an employee-owned firm.
