Job description

As a Team Lead in Field Service Engineering, you will be a key contributor to the Structures team in the Field Service Engineering department. You will oversee a group of engineers/technologists who provide engineering support for our production team for a specific engineering discipline. You will work closely with other departments, including Production, Planning, Supply Chain, and other engineering groups, to ensure our production team can be successful based on the ship design information. You will be responsible for coordination and assignment of engineering tasks for your team, and attending meetings related to structural discipline on behalf of the Field Service Engineering team.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture required.
  • Diploma in Engineering in relevant discipline.
  • P. Eng, MBA, or PMP considered to be a strong asset.
  • Strong understanding of Shipbuilding Design, production, planning, and materials.
  • Ability to navigate shipbuilding production drawings, Bill of Materials, 3D model, and large data sets.
  • Demonstrated experience (typically 5+ years) in shipbuilding, manufacturing, construction, or relevant complex industrial environment with a focus on analyzing and improving operational performance.
  • Analytical problem solving of complex issues.
Responsibilities
  • Coach, supervise and set expectations and goals for Field Service Engineers/Technologists.
  • Lead people & projects while making formal decisions with minimal oversight.
  • Managing, driving and/or executing assigned tasks, activities, or deliverables within the Field Service Engineering Group as required.
  • Develop plans, processes and procedures as required to support the execution of day-to-day activities.
  • Ensure Problem Reports (TIRs) and Change Requests are documented & communicated accordingly.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Primary Liaison between Engineering & Production within the shipyard.
