Hi there! Thanks for stopping by

We're looking for a talented Software Development Team Lead to help us lead, mentor, and coach a high-performing software development team while fostering an inclusive environment that inspires them to do the best work of their career to date.

As a leader at Lightspeed, your primary responsibility is to the people you support: ensuring they are growing as engineers, doing valuable work, and generally having a great time at Lightspeed. You also lead the team's delivery, enabling productive and sustainable ways of working while focusing on the most important things that bring long-term business value.

As a leader of strong engineers, technical leadership and a solid background in software development are a must so that you can challenge and grow your team members. You will also be able to influence the culture, facilitate technical delivery and work with your team on strategy and execution.

If you’re motivated by tackling technical challenges, delivering impactful solutions, and pursuing excellence within our distributed workforce, we’d love to hear from you!

Your Mission

Under your guidance, the team will take on the critical mission of supporting and enhancing our NuORDER B2B platform, helping businesses worldwide streamline their operations. You foster and strengthen a healthy, highly collaborative, and continuously learning culture across the teams.

What you'll be responsible for:

  1. Act as the primary communication interface between the development team and engineering management.
  2. Guide the development team to set appropriate commitments.
  3. Guide the development team to adopt a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  4. Ensure the development team outputs are of high quality and in line with both product and engineering expectations.
  5. Analyze all team requests and provide guidance to the team as needed.
  6. Interact with product management and engineering leadership to clarify requirements and provide feedback on technical issues.
  7. Interact with the product design team for UI/UX discussions.
  8. Fulfill all commitments by timely delivering the deliverables.
  9. Ensure fair task assignments to team members based on skills, growth, and preferences.
  10. Participate in team development tasks by writing code.
  11. Participate in code reviews.
  12. Be flexible and adaptable to changing and varied work settings.

What you'll be bringing to the team:

  1. Proven experience leading a team of developers through successful software projects.
  2. Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to convey technical information to a wide variety of audiences.
  3. Solid understanding of development processes, testing, and CI/CD best practices.
  4. Experience delivering horizontally scalable applications and microservices.
  5. Passion for learning new things and desire to improve continuously.
  6. Solution-oriented and constructive mindset and ability to manage ambiguity.
  7. Strong proficiency in Node.js and React.js.
  8. Proficient in Redux.
  9. Experience working with databases such as MongoDB and SQL databases such as PostgreSQL.
  10. Ability to write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
  11. Proven track record of providing technical leadership and guidance to development teams.
  12. Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
  13. Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

Even better if you have, but not necessary:

  1. Experience building scalable SaaS solutions.
  2. Experience with cloud platforms, preferably GCP.
  3. Experience with Docker & Kubernetes.
  4. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent.

Who you are:

  1. We look for problem solvers that do not shy away from tackling complexity and love critical thinkers.
  2. You have a strong will to learn, grow and get out of your comfort zone.
  3. You have great energy and passion for technology.

What’s in it for you:

Come live the Lightspeed experience...

  1. Ability to do your job in a truly flexible environment.
  2. Genuine career opportunities in a company that’s creating new jobs every day.
  3. Work in a team big enough for growth but lean enough to make a real impact.

… and enjoy a range of benefits that’ll keep you happy and healthy:

  1. Lightspeed share scheme (we are all owners).
  2. Flexible working policy and unlimited paid time off (yes, you read that right).
  3. Mental health online platform and counselling & coaching services.
  4. Health and wellness benefit.
