Job Description
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of Island Health (Vancouver Island Health Authority), patient and staff safety is a priority and a shared responsibility; continuous quality and safety improvements are inherent in this role.
Reporting to the Manager or designate, the Team Lead provides leadership in daily operations, aligning with Island Health's Vision and Mission, and participates in developing, implementing, and evaluating services reflecting the Mental Health and Substance Use vision, including a harm reduction philosophy.
Acts as a communication liaison between the multidisciplinary team, emergency health services, and community organizations, fostering cross-service relationships to ensure effective client transitions. Demonstrates a harm reduction approach to care, providing assessment, interventions, treatment, rehabilitation, outreach, and service navigation supports aligned with provincial standards and guidelines.
Provides leadership and mentorship to the multidisciplinary team, modeling professional behavior and supporting staff development. Takes a strategic view of operations and patient care, addressing issues impacting service quality. Contributes to policy development, operational planning, and quality and risk management activities. Engages in program and community development as appropriate and directed.
Travel may be required, and transportation arrangements must meet operational needs, possibly requiring use of a personal vehicle.
Graduation from a recognized nursing program or related health discipline, Advanced Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing, or CNA certification, or equivalent. Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN or RPN. At least three years of recent related experience in MHSU clinical services and one year of leadership experience, or equivalent.
Valid BC Driver's License.
