Reporting to the Clinic Manager, the Team Lead in RAAM is responsible for providing mentorship and supervision to a multi-disciplinary team of direct reports, ensuring policies and evidence-based standards are followed to achieve optimal client outcomes. The Team Lead will work alongside the co-located Community Health Clinic and affiliated Alex social service portfolios to establish a core program for the rapid stabilization, treatment, and wellness of individuals experiencing a substance use disorder.
This is a 12-month contract position.
What You Will Do
Team Management
- Provide overall leadership, management, and direction to direct reports.
- Lead day-to-day operations of a multidisciplinary team (recruitment, orientation, scheduling, payroll, recognition, and performance management).
- Coordinate staff onboarding/off-boarding and support ongoing professional development.
- Foster a culture where all staff practice to full scope, receive mentorship, and pursue professional growth.
- Provide strong leadership and cultivate a culture of excellence, accountability, self-care, innovation, and collaboration.
- Serve as a resource on emerging research, best practices, and methodologies relevant to addiction medicine.
- Guide staff in ethical decision making and ensure compliance with relevant policies and regulations.
Program Administration
- Monitor and analyze outcome data to inform program development and decision making.
- Coordinate with the Clinic Manager to address service delivery, monitor and prepare department budgets, and handle administrative and community-related matters.
- Lead the preparation and submission of funding reports and support the development of proposals related to the RAAM clinic.
Program Standards
- Support the Clinic Manager with continuous improvement and innovation in service delivery to enhance client-centered, culturally safe, effective programs.
- Define and communicate program goals, expected outcomes, and key achievements.
- Participate in developing, measuring and collecting program and funder outcomes.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to strengthen service integration and maximize impact.
- Seek and implement best practice elements of model of care.
- Ensure that staff maintain proper documentation and compliance with program, agency, and professional college requirements.
- Provide direct front-line support and client care as needed.
- Collaborate, implement, and document operational workflows.
- Oversee workplace health & safety, privacy, and EMR stewardship.
- Monitor the appropriate data repository to ensure client demographics and client instrument bundles are fully completed at scheduled intervals.
- Orient and supervise student learners and residents as needed.
- Assist in the development of relevant policies and procedures.
- Supervise and monitor crisis situations.
- Provide tours and information to individuals and groups as directed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
What You Bring
- A bachelor’s degree in a health-related field (Social Work, Nursing, or Psychology) is required. A combination of education and relevant experience will also be considered.
- Active registration with a regulated professional body (ie. ACSW, CRNA, CLPNA, CCC).
- Demonstrated leadership experience is preferred.
- Strongly invested in growing a high performing team and building a strong team culture.
- Superior knowledge and experience in providing addiction care/medicine.
- Outstanding motivational interviewing, CBT and DBT skills.
- A passion for advocating for and working with vulnerable populations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work and adapt in challenging, potentially stressful clinic environment.
- Adaptability to different environments, including variable workflow and client care environments.
- Excellent conflict resolution and crucial conversation skills.
- Availability and preparedness to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the program.
- A thorough understanding of the agency's organization, philosophy and goals.
- First Aid (Basic or Intermediate) – Level C CPR & AED within 30 days of hire date; certification must be valid for a minimum of 6 months upon hire.
- A satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal record clearance and child welfare intervention check are required.
- Demonstrated knowledge, understanding and commitment to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada: Calls to Action is preferred.
Work Environment and Hours
- The Alex Community Health Centre: 2840-2 Ave SE, Calgary, AB.
- Standard hours are 8:30 pm - 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday; flexibility in crisis situations may be required.
- 1.0 FTE (37.5 hours/week)
- This is a 12-month contract position.
- Continuous extended periods of sitting, with some standing and walking (sometimes up and down stairs).
- Occasionally involves physical action which requires the ability to bend/crouch, reach above shoulder height, kneel/crawl, and carry objects 20 lbs occasionally throughout the shift.
