Esri Canada has an exceptional opportunity for a Team Lead to join our Public Works department.
The person in this role will play a pivotal role in leading and supporting our Public Works Solutions vertical. This position will report to the Industry Manager, Public Works and will work closely with Public Works Technical Solutions Specialists, Regional TSS, Regional Account Managers, and Public Works Professional Services staff. The Technical Lead will be responsible for providing technical leadership, mentoring, and coaching to junior staff, as well as developing and demonstrating Trimble Cityworks & Unity solutions for asset management and community development. Additionally, the role includes opportunities to develop and demonstrate ArcGIS-based solutions and to provide GIS technical advice to clients and prospects. This role also includes supervisory responsibilities, overseeing the performance and development of team members.
This role will be based remotely in Canada.

A Day in the Life of a Team Lead at Esri Canada:
- Proactively work with account managers and industry leadership to create new business opportunities by supporting account teams, guiding customer needs analysis, and selling solutions to existing and prospective customers in the Public Works sector.
- Support and collaborate with different stakeholders across Canada on national and regional Public Works strategies, account planning, presentations, and demonstrations.
- Establish and develop solid working relationships with senior executives within the industry; liaise with Esri Inc. and 3rd-party suppliers to ensure proper product messaging and positioning is delivered to customers.
- Advise customers on business requirements and best practices, architectures, product selection, and release planning with a specific focus on the Public Works market.
- Leverage existing ArcGIS industry solutions to demonstrate the fit of ArcGIS products and solutions to customer business needs.
- Assist customers and business partners in the development of their strategies to integrate GIS-based solutions and address their professional services’ needs and training requirements.
- Lead in the planning, development, and delivery of events, collateral, and communications specific to the use and growth of Esri solutions for the Public Works market.
- Support the development and execution of Esri Canada’s business plan and growth strategies within the Public Works markets.
- Play a key and effective role in the planning, coordination, and preparation of proposals (e.g., RFP, RFI, and RFQ responses), presentations, benchmarks, and customer information inquiries with a sense of urgency and accuracy.
- Be engaged with applicable industry associations and working groups and participate in key industry events representing Esri Canada.
- Team up with Sales and Marketing Teams to perform regular key account reviews and follow-ups.
- Assist with business case development, ROI/benefits analysis, and validate estimation for proposal submissions as required.
- Lead educational initiatives with Esri Canada technical staff through seminars, demos and lunch and learn sessions on a regular basis, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
- Lead educational efforts for existing and prospective customers through webinars, seminars, virtual presentations in accordance with Esri Canada standards for marketing and communications.
- Provide expert-level support and troubleshooting for complex technical issues related to asset management and community development.
- Oversee technical projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including solution designs, implementation plans, and user guides.
- Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies to provide cutting-edge solutions.
- Participate in industry trade shows, customer events, and conferences to deliver presentations that promote our brand, products, and services, or manage a tradeshow booth.
- This role includes the supervision of one or more Technical Solutions Specialists and/or Senior Technical Solutions Specialists within the Public Works team.
What you bring to the team:
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in a technical solutions or similar role, preferably working with the ArcGIS product platform or partner products like Trimble Cityworks.
- Demonstrated Leadership experience and a passion for developing others.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- Experience with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, and/or ArcGIS Online.
- Experience with ArcGIS mobile applications: Field Maps, Survey123, QuickCapture, etc.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., GIS Professional, Trimble Cityworks certifications).
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and related technologies.
- Experience with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins).
- Experience in consulting, sales support, or sales engineering.
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, GIS, or related field.
Bonus points for this position:
- Strong knowledge of software development, system integration, and IT infrastructure.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Javascript, Python, or C#.
- Experience with Trimble Cityworks, Trimble Unity, and ArcGIS platforms.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with clients and team members.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Bilingual in English and French written and verbal communication skills would be an asset.
- Ability to travel within Canada and the U.S., with less than 25% travel time.
