We are seeking an experienced RN with exceptional clinical, leadership and communication for a full-time, permanent Team Lead role. As one of three Team Leads in the Medical Withdrawal Service, you will report to the Manager of the Medical Withdrawal Service and working collaboratively with the Acute Care Program practice leadership group. The Team Lead supports the Manager to anticipate needs of this 3-floor inpatient unit over time and collaborates with the unit’s interprofessional team to provide effective coordination of client/patient-centered care, consistent with CAMH’s vision and strategic directions. The Team Leads will work in tandem to assume responsibility for the communication, liaison and coordination of client/patient admissions, discharges, transfers, and appointments during the assigned shifts and for future shifts as appropriate. The successful candidate will facilitate service delivery, ensuring a high standard of quality and safety. The Team Leads will ensure that the nurse/patient assignment is clear and reflects the principles of accountability for care, also ensuring that client/patient assignments are accurate and properly recorded as per established unit processes and CAMH standards. The Team Lead will coordinate and assign breaks, break coverage, close observations and client appointments/activities off the unit for relevant staff; continuously monitoring and assessing unit needs based on the unit milieu, and advocating for change in the staffing complement due to changing unit needs. You will link new staff, including Nursing Resources Unit staff, new graduate nurses, and agency staff with appropriate unit resources and facilitate orientation to the unit, ensuring they become familiar with unit procedures/processes. You will coordinate and/or assign, in collaboration with clinical supervisors/preceptors, an appropriate CAMH unit staff to assist students of all disciplines, educating them on unit procedures, and to assist with client/patient care issues. The Team Leads will collaborate with the manager regarding staff participation in off-unit meetings/ training, educational events and facilitate participation by assigning nursing coverage for clients, taking into account unit acuity and needs of orienting other staff. You will coordinate unit clinical rounds/forums (e.g. morning rounds, team huddles, unit debriefs, etc.) and care conferences as appropriate or applicable. The Team Lead will coordinate shift report as per CAMH standards and facilitate communication within the unit, between floors and with other service areas. You will ensure that the census/unit reports are accurate and follow appropriate unit procedures, and provide the bed flow report, transfer of care report and other relevant reports, as required. The Team Lead may carry a patient assignment as dependent on the unit milieu, census and staffing complement, and be assigned other duties/tasks as required. You will support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable standards and requirements and contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of best-practices, all of which advance excellence in nursing and client/patient care This positionwill be based at the Queen Street Site and will be a regular day shift.

The successful candidate must be a member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario. A current B.C.L.S. (CPR) certificate is also required.Preference will be given to candidates who possess or are currently pursuing a BScNandCNA certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing. You will have at least two years (or 3900 hours) ofclinical experience within the mental health and addictions field, with a particular focus on: the identification and treatment of substance intoxication, overdose and withdrawal. This includes the use of pharmacotherapy in the treatment of substance use; and sound knowledge of crisis intervention, concurrent mental health and addiction issues, trauma-informed care, harm reduction and recovery-oriented care. The successfulcandidate will possess proficiency and leadership in problem-solving, decision-making, conflict resolution, negotiation, communication, delegation, critical thinking, team building and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will possess the ability to think at a program-level and participate in unit-level aswell as organization-wide change initiatives. The individual will have the ability to communicate effectively with the team, including management, both verbally and in writing; knowledge of the rolesof interdisciplinary team members, their professional responsibilities and areas of expertise is essential.Demonstratedexpertise in maintaining a culture of safety for staff, clients/patient, families and visitors according to CAMH and regulatory standardsis critical.Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
