Job summary

Pacific Community Resources Society (PCRS) seeks a Team Lead for the Pathways to Education Program in Surrey and Vancouver areas. You will mentor Youth Outreach Workers, supervise staff, coordinate service delivery, and ensure contract outcomes while building partnerships.

The role requires strong leadership, trauma-informed practice, and a commitment to working with Indigenous, LGBTQ2+ youth; travel between sites may be required, with in-person and on-call work as needed.

About The Program

The Pathways to Education Program™ is a national program, operating in 20 communities across Canada and provides a comprehensive set of academic, social, financial, and individual supports to youth. The primary goal of the Pathways to Education program is to enhance the educational success of youth living in the Downtown Eastside/Strathcona communities in Vancouver and Guildford/Whalley communities in Surrey.

Hours & Conditions of Work

• Regular Full Time
• 35 hours weekly
• Dependent upon program needs, position may be required to travel between Vancouver and Surrey sites.
• This position will include in person and on-call work (1 week per month) to support teams who work in the afternoons and evenings.
• Evening work hours will be required at times.
• Travel to programming sites within the community may be required.

Position Summary

Wage Grid 18 - $35.73 to $37.28 per hour

PCRS seeks an experienced Team Lead for our Pathways to Education Program. The successful applicant will be part of a team, providing leadership, mentorship to Youth Outreach Workers and youth participating in the program.

The Pathways to Education Team Lead will work with the staff team and community to ensure the successful planning, implementation, evaluation and ongoing development of the Pathways to Education Program. Team Lead provides mentorship, support, and supervision to a team of Youth Outreach Workers. The Team Lead will demonstrate strong organizational and leadership skills. This position will be responsible for strengthening and expanding of internal and external community partnerships, and the growth and sustainability of the program.

The position will require a willingness to work within complex partnerships in the community that support the specific academic and psychosocial needs of participating youth. The successful candidate will be skilled and experienced connecting with diverse communities, including Indigenous, newcomers, and LGBTQ2+ youth to ensure they feel safe, supported and connected. They will encourage and promote a trauma informed, strong-based, and participant-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Hires, onboards, supervises, and mentors staff
• Provides direction, coordinates service delivery
• Monitors, reports and assesses service performance related to meeting contract outcomes
• Works with Manager to ensure overall operations, finances, quality assurance and service delivery align with contract expectations
• In partnership with the Manager, explores and pursues opportunities for partnerships, and develops proposals for service expansion, renewal, and development
• Understands and applies PCRS’s policies and procedures
• Leads and develops an engaged, collaborative, and effective staff team
• Maintains and develops effective relationships with internal PCRS programs, partner service delivery organizations, and community groups where applicable
• Represents PCRS at community and official functions
• Collaborates with other professionals for service goal development and referrals

Competencies & Knowledge

• Ability to respond to crisis scenarios using agency protocols and ethics.
• Effective team collaboration skills.
• Experience creating and working within a culturally inclusive environment for staff, partners, and participants.
• Strong verbal, interpersonal, presentation, and written communication skills.
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to handle multiple, often conflicting priorities.
