Job summary

Canadian Commercial Corporation is seeking a Team Lead Financial Operations (CCC-6) to oversee contract management transactions and quality control within a hybrid Ottawa environment. The role emphasizes training, process improvement, and developing billing plans for complex contracts.

You will review contracts for accounting standards compliance, lead junior staff, and implement tools to enhance financial governance and reporting for public sector engagements.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, business or commerce.
  • Minimum 8 years of accounting or business services experience including people management.
  • English essential; bilingualism strongly recommended.
  • Knowledge of internal controls framework, accounting standards and public sector reporting; proficiency with office software.

Responsibilities

  • Coach and develop junior staff with clear work priorities.
  • Oversee quality control programs to ensure internal controls and governance.
  • Support creation of billing payment plans based on contracts and accounting standards.
  • Review contracts for correct accounting application and required changes.
  • Review contract lifecycles for compliance and corrections.
  • Review electronic records of contract transactions for accuracy.
  • Develop and deliver training programs on contract financial administration.
  • Develop tests and support for electronic contract systems upgrades.

The Team Lead Financial Operations provides independent quality review with a focus on contract management transactions including ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting standards. The position is responsible for the identification of issues and the preparation and delivery of training and process improvement. Provides support in creating billing payment plans for complex contracts and acts as a subject matter specialist for contract management administration.

What you’ll be doing
  • Supports junior staff by providing guidance and support through coaching and training, while also establishing clear and effective work priorities to foster professional growth and development.
  • Leads and oversees the implementation and maintenance of robust quality control programs, ensuring compliance with internal controls requirements and best practices to safeguard the organization's financial integrity and enhance its overall financial governance.
  • Serves as a subject matter specialist to support creation of billing payment plans based on interpretation and application of contracts, legislation and accounting standards and practices and to ensure appropriate recording in electronic systems
  • Reviews contracts to ensure appropriate application of accounting standards and identifies where corrections and changes are required
  • Reviews the lifecycle for individual contracts to ensure compliance with all requirements and identifies needed corrections and changes
  • Reviews electronic records of contract transactions (payments and receivables) to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Based on the identification of compliance gaps and deficiencies, supports and/or creates improvement initiatives including new tools / templates, report design and processes
  • Develops and delivers training programs on contract financial administration to internal employees
  • Develops methods and testing for electronic contract systems identifying and support new modules and upgrades
What you’ll bring to CCC
  • Completion of an undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, business or commerce
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in accounting services and/or business services including experience related people management
  • English Essential. Bilingual in both official languages is strongly recommended
  • Knowledge of relevant internal controls framework, accounting standards and reporting requirements within the public sector environment Knowledge, skills and experience in managing quality assurance programs and related continuous improvement and training (design and delivery)
  • Knowledge of office productivity software and databases, discipline-specific software, enterprise software, and technology devices
