Position Overview:

The Data Platform Team Lead is a critical role within our Enterprise Data & Analytics Group, focusing on the design, implementation, and management of our Enterprise Data Platform. This position is responsible for leading a team of data engineers to build and maintain a robust, scalable, and efficient data infrastructure to support QuadReal’s global business strategy. The successful candidate will work closely with IT, the Data Governance team, and other data-focused teams to ensure the data platform aligns with organizational objectives and drives measurable business value.

Data Platform Development and Management:

• Drive and execute the strategic roadmap for QuadReal’s Enterprise Data Platform.
• Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of QuadReal’s Enterprise Data Platform on schedule and on budget.
• Collaborate with IT to integrate diverse data sources into the platform.
• Oversee the development and support of data integration pipelines to load data from source systems into the platform.
• Ensure the data platform complies with all Data Governance, Enterprise Architecture, and Enterprise Integration requirements.
• Evaluate and implement emerging data technologies and architectures to enhance data capabilities and performance.

Team Leadership and Collaboration:

• Manage and mentor a team of high-performing data engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
• Collaborate closely with the Data Governance team to implement data quality measures, metadata management, and any applicable policies within the platform.
• Work with Data Solutions and Data Innovation teams to align platform capabilities with business value creation.
• Serve as a key technical liaison between the Enterprise Data & Analytics Group and IT.
• Serve as a key technical stakeholder in technical conversations with cloud providers and other vendors as applicable to QuadReal’s Enterprise Data Platform.

Strategic Planning and Innovation:

• Contribute to the development of data platform strategies that align with overall business objectives, while delivering operational excellence.
• Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies in data engineering, data operations and analytics.
• Propose and implement innovative solutions to enhance platform performance, scalability, and user experience.
• Proactively monitor performance and costs to optimize use of cloud resources.

Data Security and Compliance:

• Work with IT and Data Governance teams to implement robust data security measures and access controls.
• Ensure the data platform adheres to data privacy regulations and industry best practices.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in data engineering or related roles, with at least 2 years in a leadership position.
• Proven expertise in designing and managing enterprise-scale data platforms and data integration pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of big data technologies, cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP), and data warehousing concepts. Azure is preferred.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Experience with data modeling, ETL processes, and modern data architectures (e.g., data mesh, lakehouse).
• Proven experience implementing flexible and scalable data solutions.
• Familiarity with data governance principles and metadata management systems.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
• Customer focused, with strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and departments.
• Growth mindset with a commitment to continuous learning and staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies.
• Domain knowledge in the commercial real estate sector is considered an asset.
