Compensation

Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator, and Lab Demonstrator positions are paid according to qualifications:

  • Employees without a 4-year honours degree or 3-year pass degree: $22.04/hour (effective September 1, 2024)
  • Employees with a 4-year honours degree or 3-year pass degree: $34.73/hour (effective September 1, 2024)
  • Additional duties as part of a Teaching Assistant role are compensated at the appropriate rate.
Duties

The duties align with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement, including:

  • Leading tutorials and facilitating discussions
  • Marking and grading coursework and providing feedback
  • Entering grades into EXCEL and Sakai
  • Proctoring exams
  • Attending meetings with instructors or coordinators
  • Providing contact information for student inquiries
  • Meeting with students and faculty as required
  • Familiarity with textbooks and course materials
Qualifications
  • Enrolled in or holding a Master’s or higher degree in Tourism, Business Management, or Sustainability
  • 80%+ average in relevant undergraduate courses
  • Strong knowledge of Tourism Management
  • Teaching and marking experience, especially at the first-year level, is an asset
  • Proficiency in EXCEL and Sakai or equivalent
  • Work experience in Tourism industry is an asset
  • Dependability, time management, interpersonal skills, and professionalism
