Course Title: POLI 1P96: Political Theory Through Film and Literature

Compensation:

  • Undergraduate rate ($22.07/hr) for employees without a 4-year honours or 3-year pass degree (effective Sept 1, 2024)
  • Graduate rate ($34.73/hr) for employees with a 4-year honours or 3-year pass degree (effective Sept 1, 2024)

Additional duties are compensated at the appropriate TA rate.

Duties:

The workload is approximately 60 hours. Responsibilities include facilitating small group discussions on political philosophy topics through analysis of films, literature, and texts; grading assignments and exams; providing constructive feedback; and maintaining accurate student records. Duties align with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement, including scheduled contact time and non-classroom activities such as preparation, grading, student consultations, and course administration.

  • Enrolled in or completed a postgraduate degree in Political Science, emphasizing political theory.
  • Ability to articulate theoretical concepts clearly.
  • Strong essay writing skills.
  • Good organizational skills and adherence to timelines.
  • Prior experience as a teaching assistant or in a leadership role.
