Title of Course

Applied Music I – VOCAL, Section 2

Individual instruction in voice. This position may also include other applied music course codes, section 2. It is primarily for voice but may include other instruments as determined by the Department.

Compensation

60 hours during the Fall/Winter semester (0.5 stipend). Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator, and Lab Demonstrator positions are paid according to qualifications:

  • Employees without a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate - $22.07 per hour (effective September 1, 2024).
  • Employees with a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate - $34.73 per hour (effective September 1, 2024).
  • Additional duties as part of a Teaching Assistant’s responsibilities will be compensated at the appropriate rate.
Responsibilities

The duties align with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement, including scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom activities such as seminar preparation, student consultation, grading, exam proctoring, attending lectures, office hours, and other administrative tasks.

Updated since last posting:

  1. Relevant Master of Music or Doctorate in Music, or equivalent professional experience.
  2. Significant undergraduate-level vocal performance teaching experience.
  3. Effective teaching demonstrated through evaluations, letters of recommendation, or similar documentation.
  4. Ability to use Brightspace or equivalent online learning management systems.
