Compensation
Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator and Lab Demonstrator positions are paid according to the qualifications that the employee holds.
· Employees who do NOT hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate - $22.07 per hour.(Rate effective September 1, 2024)
· Employees who hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate - $34.73 per hour.(Rate effective September 1, 2024)
· In cases where additional duties are required as part of a Teaching Assistant’s duties, these hours shall be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate.
Duties
The Teaching Assistant (TA) for the Manufacturing Processes course will be responsible for supporting lab setup and preparation, as well as facilitating lab sessions and machine shop demonstrations. The TA will assist with the invigilation of all quizzes, the midterm, and the final exam. They will also be involved in grading assessments, including quizzes, the midterm test, final exam, and multiple assignments. Additionally, the TA will provide support for student projects and may be required to complete extra hours for various course-related duties as needed.
Qualifications
• Completion of at least 3 years in a BEng program in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum overall GPA of 75% or higher
• Focus in Manufacturing within Mechanical Engineering
• Strong understanding of Finite Element Method (FEM) and simulation techniques
• Experience with DEFORM software is considered an asset
• Previous TA or instructional experience is considered an asset
