Overview

Teacher: Temporary, Full-Time Elementary Generalist - Grade 1

Applications are invited for the position of Teacher at Crescent Valley School, located in Hinton, Alberta (Grande Yellowhead Public School Division). The elementary school serves approximately 350 students in grades JK-7.

Temporary, Full-Time Elementary Generalist - Grade 1

Location

Crescent Valley School – Hinton, AB

Start Date

October 6, 2025 until June 30, 2025, or until the incumbent returns, whichever occurs sooner.

Hours of Work

1.0 FTE, Monday–Friday

The competition will remain open until: September 2, 2025 at 12:00pm MST.

Role and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be collaborative, proficient with educational technology, and have an understanding of assessment for learning. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing instruction to promote high quality student-centered learning.
  • Designing and preparing lessons based on curriculum and employing a variety of teaching methodologies (lectures, demonstrations, discussions).
  • Facilitating inclusive educational practices to maximize opportunities for all students.
  • Reviewing and evaluating each student’s performance, knowledge and skills, and meeting all reporting and assessment deadlines.
  • Adhering to provincial legislation, board policy, and division administrative procedures.
  • Developing constructive relationships with parents.
  • Modeling commitment to professional development.
Requirements

The successful candidate will:

  • Possess an Alberta Teaching Certificate or be eligible for one.
  • Have experience in following the Teaching Quality Standard (TQS) and infusing literacy across the curriculum.
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education.

Grande Yellowhead School Division (GYPSD) covers a large geographic area and includes 17 schools, 5 Learning Connection Centres, approximately 5,000 students and 600 staff. The Division is governed by seven elected Trustees.
