Teacher, Science (inclusive of Physics), Senior School (Grades 8 - 12)

Full-time, Fixed-term Contract for the 2025/26 school year

You are an experienced teacher capable of engaging a diverse class of students (grades 8-12), actively planning, implementing, and assessing student learning. You are confident in curriculum development and adopt a teaching approach that reflects how girls learn, utilizing available resources, supporting all learners with diverse strategies, and bringing innovative solutions to learning challenges. Your classes are student-centered and dynamic. Colleagues, students, and parents see you as approachable, knowledgeable, genuine, and supportive. The school provides a professional learning environment, with time allocated for planning and collaboration.

This role comprises 0.8 FTE Science teaching and 0.2 FTE internal coverage.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver a student-centered, inquiry-based, and collaborative BC curriculum for Science (Grades 8-12), including Physics.
• Support the growth and development of students through the Crofton House School Advisory program.
• Collaborate within the Science department and build relationships across the school community.
• Participate in co-curricular activities as appropriate.
• Engage in school meetings, planning, and professional development.
• Create a positive, supportive learning environment.

Qualifications:

• Relevant university qualifications, preferably at the graduate level (e.g., Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Science).
• Experience teaching science at the senior school level.
• Experience teaching physics is an asset.
• Understanding of current educational practices per BC Ministry of Education guidelines.
• Experience in independent schools is an asset.
• Awareness of learning styles of girls and young women.
• Collaborative, energetic, passionate about teaching.
• Committed to professional standards and best practices.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Energy and readiness to participate in co-curricular and school community activities.

Employment and Application Details:

• Start date: September 2025, following orientation in late August 2025.
• Competitive salary: $65,869 - $116,734, based on experience and education.
