Sitting at the northwest tip of Lake Athabasca, Fort Chipewyan is one of the most northern communities in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, one that strives for a balance between urban and natural settings in Treaty 8 Territory. There are about 980 residents living in the hamlet, making it the second-largest community in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. Many of the residents of Fort Chipewyan are Mikisew Cree First Nation, Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation, and Fort Chipewyan Métis. Surrounded by nature, Fort Chipewyan is a fly-in community.

We’re seeking dedicated professionals across all grade levels and subject areas who:

As a teacher, you are responsible to demonstrate the competencies and abilities of the Alberta Education. You will work with students to teach the programs of study and have the ability to differentiate and adapt the curriculum for all learners. As a member of the school, you will collaborate with staff to enable a welcoming, safe and respected environment for every student.

Education And Experience

  • Education:
  • Bachelor of Education Degree

ii) Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate

iii) Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, First Aid and Mental Health First Aid would be an asset.

  • Experience:
  • Strong background in assessment as well as differentiating instruction experience is a definite asset

Equivalencies will be considered.

This position requires an original copy of a current clean criminal record check with vulnerable sector and an original copy of a child intervention record check.
