We are seeking passionate & self-directed Teachers on call to join our team and collaborate with us in expanding our course offerings for learners at our beautiful location in Ladysmith, BC, on central Vancouver Island.

The opportunity

• You will support our students when their teacher is unavailable, whether for a short block or an extended leave.
• You will support student learning with innovative and unconventional opportunities, prioritizing land-based learning and integration of Stz’uminus & Coast Salish teachings.
• You will develop relationships with peer educators, administration, students, families, partners, and community members.
• You will collaborate with educators across SES to enhance and lead explorations, projects, units, and lessons.
• You will participate actively in all aspects of our school community, including professional development.
• You will conduct and contribute to assessments, learning evaluations, and meet reporting requirements.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Education
• You are a dedicated educator and lifelong learner who leads with relationships and respect.
• You are confident in behaviour management and capable of caring for yourself and others in challenging situations.
• You appreciate the variety of relationships and learning opportunities that teaching on call provides.
• You recognize that impactful learning can occur outside conventional classrooms.
• You are a collaborative team player who respects and values contributions from all community members.
• You are committed to incorporating indigenous Coast Salish culture, hul’q’umi’num language, and Stz’uminus ways of knowing into your teaching and personal growth.
• You are currently qualified and in good standing with the BC Teacher Regulation Branch.
• You are eligible for clearance of a Criminal Record Check for working with children and vulnerable adults.
