Job summary

Collingwood School is seeking a flexible and collaborative Teacher Librarian for the Wentworth Campus in West Vancouver, BC. The 0.8 FTE temporary contract for 2026–2027 supports literacy and a love of reading across JK–7, with opportunities to contribute to co-curricular life.

The ideal candidate has a library science background, teaching experience, BC certification, and a passion for inclusive education within a vibrant school community.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Education in elementary education with a strong literacy background.
  • Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science is an asset.
  • Minimum of 2 years teaching experience.
  • Canadian residency and legally entitled to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations of the Wentworth Library.
  • Curate diverse library collections (digital and physical).
  • Catalogue and circulate materials; maintain library website.
  • Lead weekly library sessions for students Grades JK-7.
  • Provide readers’ advisory services to students, faculty and families.
  • Guide students and staff in using catalogues, databases, and e-books.

We are seeking an experiencedTeacher Librarianto join ourWentworth Campus. The ideal candidate is a flexible, technologically proficient, dynamic, collaborative and inspirational educator who is committed to fostering a love of learning and literacy. The successful candidate will also play an active role in the co-curricular life of the school. This is a 0.8 FTE Temporary Contract position for the 2026–2027 school year.

Responsibilities
  • Manage daily operations of the Wentworth Library in collaboration with the co-Teacher Librarian
  • Curate diverse, inclusive, and engaging library collections (digital and physical)
  • Library administrative responsibilities such as cataloging and circulation to maintain and further develop the extensive collection as well as maintaining the Library website
  • Inspire a love of reading and champion a reading culture within the school
  • Collaborate with faculty and lead weekly library sessions for students Grades JK-7
  • Provide expert readers’ advisory services to students, faculty and families
  • Guide students and faculty in using library catalogues and research databases and e-books
Required qualifications
  • A Bachelor of Education in elementary education with a strong literacy or English background
  • A Bachelor’s or a Master’s Degree with a specialization in Library and Information Science is an asset
  • Minimum of 2 years teaching experience
  • A genuine passion for teaching literacy
  • Confidence teaching both primary and intermediate aged students
  • BC Teaching Certification
  • Basic First Aid
  • Canadian residency and legally entitled to work in Canada

The current 2026-27 faculty grid annual salary range for this position is $78,342 to $116,666 based on years of experience and a Bachelor of Education.
