Crofton House School is seeking an exceptional Junior Kindergarten teacher to work with a team of educators in our Junior Kindergarten program. You will be part of a collaborative teaching team supporting the positive growth and development of young girls in the Crofton House School Early Childhood Education Centre. Fulfil your vision as a JK Teacher by joining this dynamic school community with motivated students, inspirational colleagues and supportive parents along with abundant resources and enriching professional development opportunities. Our play-based approach to teaching and learning is guided and enhanced by the principles of a student-centred, collaborative and inquiry-based focus to deepen learning for young students.

Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with a dynamic team of teachers and early childhood educators to co-construct and deliver a high-quality Junior Kindergarten program.
  2. Work closely with a second JK teacher to lead all aspects of learning within the JK classroom.
  3. Prioritise play as a foundation for learning, integrating it into all aspects of your teaching.
  4. Plan outdoor learning experiences that make full use of Crofton House School’s 10-acre campus to support physical and cognitive development.
  5. Use thoughtful documentation and assessment strategies to reflect on student learning and growth, including using SeeSaw to track and share progress.
  6. Enhance the learning experience for all students by working closely with the Learning Resource team to plan appropriate supports.
  7. Build strong partnerships with parents through daily communication, termly reports, and regular in-person meetings.
  8. Contribute to the wider Junior School community by participating in co-curricular programming.
  9. Engage actively in professional development opportunities, including joining a Professional Learning Community, collaborating with colleagues to improve teaching practices and student outcomes, and participating in school-wide learning initiatives.
  10. Draw inspiration from educational research, such as Costa and Kallick's Habits of Mind, Harvard Project Zero’s Making Thinking Visible, and Debora Macnamara’s Rest, Play, Grow, to enhance your teaching practice.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience:

  1. B.C. Ministry of Education Teaching Certification.
  2. Early Childhood Educator or Education Assistant Certificate.
  3. A deep understanding of play-based learning and its role in child development.
  4. Experience leveraging outdoor environments for meaningful learning.
  5. Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
  6. Creativity, flexibility, and patience in supporting young learners.
  7. Strong communication skills and a commitment to fostering safe, caring spaces for children.
  8. Familiarity with the unique learning styles of girls and a capacity to innovate in meeting their needs.

Employment and Application Details:

Classes begin in September 2025 following teacher orientation in late August 2025.

Employees of Crofton House School receive competitive compensation and support for professional, educational and leadership development. Compensation: $65,869 - $116,734 depending on experience and education level.
