1.0 FTE Term Assignment until June 30, 2026

Key Responsibilities Will Include

  • Host parent/guardian information sessions about Windspeaker program
  • Intake student registration
  • Plan and facilitate Windspeaker monthly activities
  • Coordinate busing, chaperones, food, venues, tickets, etc.
  • Creating groups in MyEd
  • Prepare field trip forms including high risk forms for approval and distribution
  • Attend weekly CHART meetings
  • Create course, assign and assess Windspeaker grades 10-12 Independent Study Credits
  • Data entry (events, participants attendance) for grant reporting
  • Budget keeping
  • Student supervision during field trips i.e. behaviour management
  • Managing chaperones during field trips

Minimum Academic Qualifications/Experience

  • Bachelor of Education Degree or equivalent;
  • Valid B.C. Teaching Certificate;
  • Completion of a minimum of two senior level (300+) courses in Indigenous Studies, Inclusive/inclusive education, or Counseling;
  • Five years of school-based teaching with a significant population of Indigenous learners.

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

  • A strong understanding of risk and protective factors for Indigenous students including those that are influenced by culture
  • Experience with and demonstrated knowledge of local Indigenous history, heritage and cultures
  • Knowledge, understanding and sensitivity of the effects and impacts of historical educational experiences of Indigenous peoples, including transgenerational trauma;
  • Knowledge, understanding, and experience of trauma-sensitive practices;
  • Experience with culturally sensitive communication.
  • Experience with local land-based knowledge and outdoor education

Reporting Structure

The personnel in this position are accountable in the execution of their assigned duties to the District Principal of Indigenous Learning and/or the Director(s) of Indigenous Learning.

Consistent with Section 6(1) of the Human Rights Code, Indigenous ancestry is a bona fide occupational requirement for these positions.

Salary range is $59,711 to $109,520, with placement on the range based on length of service, FTE and qualifications in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
