Job description

Applications are invited for the position of Teacher

Position: Full-Time, Temporary, French Immersion Elementary Generalist

Location: Hinton, AB

Start Date: Duties to commence the start of the 2025-2026 school year until June 26, 2026, or upon return of the incumbent, whichever occurs sooner.

Hours of Work: 1.0 FTE Monday-Friday

The competition will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.

A dual-track (English and French Immersion) school in Hinton, Alberta. Located under an hour east of Jasper, Alberta. École Mountain View School resides in the Grande Yellowhead Public School Division, an elementary school providing excellent education in both English and French to grades JK-7.

Role And Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be a collaborative person with proficiency in the use of educational technology and have an understanding of assessment for learning. The responsibilities include:

  • Providing instruction to promote high quality student-centered learning.
  • Designing and preparing lessons based on curriculum and following a variety of methodology in teaching and instructing students, including lectures, demonstrations and discussions.
  • Facilitating inclusive educational practices to maximize educational opportunities for all students.
  • Reviewing and evaluating each student's performance, knowledge and skills and meeting all reporting and assessment deadlines.
  • Adhering to provincial legislation, board policy and division administrative procedures.
  • Developing constructive relationships with parents.
  • Modelling commitment to professional development.
The Successful Candidate Will
  • Be fluent in French and English
  • Possess an Alberta Teaching Certificate or be eligible for one.
  • Have experience in following the Teaching Quality Standard (TQS) and infusing literacy across the curriculum.
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree of Education.

Grande Yellowhead School Division (GYPSD) stretches from Jasper National Park, east to Evansburg, south of Cadomin, and northwest to Grande Cache. The jurisdiction includes 17 schools, 5 Learning Connection Centres, approximately 5000 students and 600 staff. The Division is governed by seven elected Trustees.

The Division also provides $725 per year for teachers to allocate within a Health and Wellness Spending Account.
